Yes she will. There ARE other ways to stay with him if he's not king, ya know, like... continue being Grey Wardens.

It's almost like everyone thinks the only happy ending is being queen or something O_o. You can offer the throne to Anora, she'll take it regardless of how you feel about each other, and then both of you later on can return to the Grey Wardens after getting the God-baby, and live happily ever after, to a sort.

Thanks, this I'll do... though I wonder: if I let Alistair kill Loghain, will Anora still accept being Queen? He's he father after all...

Yes, she's not going to abandon her people.

EDIT:  Bah since I cannot change the topic, it has been said more romance to come so this isn't full but will get you up to tent scene at least!

My apologies if this was said before, Search still not working for me.

But I was able to finally figure out Alistair's full romance from beginning to end, even when he asks you to his tent!

Before I do anything to post, is there any interested parties who would like to know how?  And perhaps any good FRAPS like program where I can capure some of the best parts leading up to it?

If so would be glad to post it.

oh, he asks you eventually? shame on me for pushing the issue. lol

I actually had a hard time romancing him, because even though my character liked him, she didn't at first.  Plus, my character doesn't like the chantry or trust any of their teachings, so I was sympathetic to blood mages and such.  I think I only "succeeded" a bit before the Landsmeet.  Still haven't finished the game, so I'm curious how it turns out after this final battle...

Alistair came by himself, he did all step alone, that was so cute ^^

I just had to be supportive and nice to him.

Sigh...I just got done replaying 18 hours to make Goldanna my second to last quest. My pc doesn't know if she is coming or going!?!

I have heard the only way to end up with Alistair as an elf is by hardening him.

My Character is Danish Elf Warrior. 100% approval with adore. I have put all my points into persuation and that is maxed out. And (thru my backtrack) I have left Zevran unromanced to see if Alistair will still have his jealousy speach.

Thru orginal play thru I didn't harden Alistair. After getting the Ashes I went directly to Redcliffe to heal the Earl. Before Redcliffe.....Alistair was not harden....I had 100% approval with Love as the rating. We were so happy...sigh. Redcliffe...after the speach that Alistair needs to become king....I checked his approval...Still at 100%...but....OH SWOOPERS....instead of Love it read Neutral.....WTF.....Neutral...my pc was doomed....and I got the dialogue ....I don't want talk about it right now...but he was still calling me his love..and was happy to bed me. Hince, that is why I am going to harden him before healing the Earl.

Since my whole campaign is so screwed from restarts and backtracks I am going to try every possible outcome for my Danish Elf Warrior...I will post the results

My dalish elf girl had not crushed his dreams and they became famed Grey Warden couple in the long run while Morrigan got lost in the world and Anora ruled as queen.

So, did you promote Anora as queen then? Did you have disapproval points from Alistair?

Ok....so I hardened Alistair...and we did the tent scene....Someone had suggest taking off the armor before you go to camp...I did....it was so much better....especially the kissing problems.

Next, I clicked on the "What happens next?" - have to say the dialogue is so much more hopeful and happier...at least Alistair is fighting for the relationship....You can pick the As long as we care for each other or I won't let you go dialogue and get a really good responce.

Was very surprised when I picked...I don't know if we had a future dialogue...Alistair starts talking about Grey Wardens not being able to have children...we don't have to have children, etc. then you can pick I don't want to give up or one other one and have a hopeful responce...in which he says...you're worth it. Play around with it and pick your favorite responce.

I am going actually restart after the tent scene and see if Alistair will approach me on the what happens next subject on his own.

Ok....whew....back at Redcliffe....healed the Earl....no time to presave...it went right into the dialogue....I didn't except any gifts from the Earl and picked evey question around directly picking Alistair as king...I even picked..."What if we support Loghian?" ....in which Alistair replies....surely you are joking or something like that.

Still 100% Alistair in Love...went back to camp...question did not come up...So we just went to bed again and now back to Redcliffe to set up Landsmeet.

Edit: This stuff will have story spoilers**

I just finished the game, did almost everything in the game around 110 hours and I was extremely disappointed by the ending. I maintained a romance with Alistair and I have to find a way for some sort of happy ending (both alive and in love) or else all of my time seems wasted. My character is a Dalish elf, so no Queen option (I'm fine with that) but several times it was mentioned I had to harden Alistair ... what does that mean exactly and what do I need to do?

Also, the only way to have him survive is say yes to Morrigan (whom I detest since her proposition) and also make him defend the gates? I'd rather not watch him die a few times to figure this out.

Edit: I found the harden question in another thread but I'm still curious about the endings where Alistair and the main character get to stay alive.

Well, I am going to list the steps I did with my Human Mage, female of course.

First, make sure he is the one you want to woo.  Trust me on this because all the gifts you will find will go to him.  He has many little conversations you can have with him that may go up only +1 or so.

Second, knowing how to talk to him is important.  Joking with him is fine but do not do so on something that is really important to him such as intimate moments or about Duncan.

So ... here we go.  Please read no further if you still want to figure it out yourself!  SPOILER BELOW!
`
`
`
`
`
`
1.  When we met in Ostagar, I started talking to him to begin getting approval, saving after each one conversation I did with him, reloading if it didn't work.  Remember some conversations do not give approval.

2.  When reaching Lothering, I found a gift to give him which I did, and anything Dog dug up I gave to him .. even stuff I bought.  Even moving it +1 each time helped.

3.  Do Redcliffe first once you get to the world map.  This can help with a few things on getting approval with Alistair faster.

4.  By this point you should be able to ask to kiss him.  If so you're doing good.

5.  When he gets to the point about wanting to meet his siter in Denerim DO IT!  This seems ot be very important for some reason to move the romance along (at least from how I did it)

6.  DON'T ask him to your tent when you get the choice.  Trust me ....

7.  When he cares for you enough, he will give you a rose.  Take it .. it's worth it.

8.  There will be a point when you are 100 with him and AFTER the rose giving and AFTER meeting his sister that he will initiate wanting to sleep with him that night.

It is all worth it, trust me ladies and gents.  I really suggest saving before each time you need to go to Camp and before any conversations with Alistair.  The different choices you have to say and his responses are hilarious and adorable.

Now to see if I can FRAPS certain points up, unless someone beats me to it!.

I tried this with my rogue elf...pretty much got there through conversation alone. I think I gave two big gifts maybe a couple of little one pointers. I was at 100% and had done the sister quest. He asked me before the rose. I was surprised. I had just finished the Mage Circle quest and headed back to camp hoping that he'd offer the rose and low and behold he asked me to his tent.

Thanks for the info though...I don't think I would have tried again if I hadn't seen your post.

I never initiate him :

1) He offrered a rose to PC.

2) My pc told him, she enjoys his company / spend time with him.

3) PC save Redcliff and gave him his mother amulet

3) I did his quest wih his sister

4) He declared his love for my PC and so they kissed for the first time.

5) PC save Iarl Eamon

6) Alistair ask her to sleep with him.

7) PC can ask him what will become of them.

That's all I discovered so far.

Yes, have a good approval rating with him, and coercin. When the Landsmeet comes, say you will rule by his side.

I have done the Allister Romance twice now, once with a Human Noble Warrior and once with a Dalish Rogue. Neither time did I harden him yet both times I came out with acceptible outcomes. With the Human Noble, she became queen at his side, with the Dalish I moved Anora forward as Queen, let Allister kill Loghain (in both of them, I wasn't to thrilled with him myself at that point), took Morrigan's offer and they went on to live happy after Anora was crowned Queen.

I have a question.

As a city elf, Landsmeet broke into a brawl for me, and I don't ever remember getting the option to calmly discuss with everyone who would be king, so no persuade chance for me (even if it would ultimately fail). After talking to a friend of mine, I realize I didn't have enough bann support or whatever. I just had two fights, then off with Loghain's head, then I was dumped.  When I reloaded and actively supported Anora, I had just about unanimous bann support. Anyway...

So my questions for human noble are:

1) You have to actively support Alistair as king, right, to get the queen option (with Anora betraying you)?
2) Do you need higher bann support - in other words, they all vote against Loghain,  so there is no brawl and you have to negotiate?

Thanks guys..

Oh dear, I have done mage circle AND Redcliffe, and Alistair is still only halfway up the approval list. I gave him his mother's amulet, that helped - my pc is a human noble warrior, and she's not much for being weak - some times she would tease Alistair when he gave a silly answer, but didn't lose approval - guess I'll have to make her swoon or something - got Zev in the group - perhaps my pc should flirt with him to make Alistair jealous, but Zev is a playa for sure!

I'll try giving him an "action figure" and see if that helps - I wondered who would like those statuettes in my pc's pack - too funny! :)

I almost found it impossible NOT to romance Alistair, even when I was trying to only flirt with Zevran. Seriously even if you're just nice with him he'll eventually start hinting that he likes you.

One of my favorite Alistair romance moments is when he tells you he cares about you and then asks if you might feel the same way. You can respond "I don't know. It's too soon to tell" and then he gets all confident and sexy and says "Is it too soon for this?" Then he kisses you and your entire body turns to a puddle on the ground.

...I can go on forever about how much I adore Alistair....so I won't. :D

He's too easy! They all are...

I like romancing everyone at once.   Makes for some great awkward conversations.

Alistair says something like... "SO... you and Leliana... I know, HOT..." And so on..

Just finished game with three possible endings.....I am playing a Danish Female Elf Warrior

My most favorite ending....Alistair made me chancellor (support the King) where he seeks my advice on everything and I rule when he's not there....but I also chose to go be with the Grey Wardens as well which meant that Alistair left court to go rebuild the grey wardens....he left with his love never to leave her side again...well...except to make a shrine for Duncan.

Very hard to get to this point though as I replayed and restarted many times.....Save as often as you can....because there will be times when you can't....

1.  Had to harden him....happens when talk to Goldanna (his sister)...I did this before Landsmeet quest. Landsmeet was my last quest before battle.  I picked to things.....Something about is this who you thought your sister was...and people are selfish....(I felt bad for doing this at first). However, hardened Alistair will fight for the relationship..not weak gullable Alistair.

You need 100 points love and maxed persuation for Landsmeet.

2. Finally do Landsmeet.....I did this my first round by mistake....(I have the Strategy Guide for tips and suggestions)....I was trying to make anora queen without me suggesting it...however....Alistair won all but one vote when I made the arguments and he became king.....I was so not looking forward to the dumping scene.

Positive Influence...talk to anora and tell you support her even if you don't ...bonus for rescuing Oswyne from Howes Torturers during "Rescue Queen"......also rescue Irminric in Howe's dungeon and give the ring to Alstanna  in  the tavern in Denarim...and before you release Vaughn (the jerk from CIty Elf) make him vote for you before you say you will release him.

Confronting Loghain.....Talk about Blight...or who betrayed Ferelden....after this I focused on what not to do during debate......Never bring up Cailan to die....don't talke about about make alistair king....which I didn't even want to suggest....when you talk to anora before landsmeet don't tell her you think Loghain should die.

If all goes well Alistair will be king....then it will instantly go into the I love you but I'm king dumping scene.  I picked....We don't have to grow old together....Nobody can force the king..and Perhaps you should do what pleases you for once dialogue options...Alistair will reply with Dam them all and I feel like such an idiot for even bringing it up, please forgive me...I replied with You'll have to earn it.

Oh yeah.....Loghain will not just give up you will have to fight him to the death...I sent in Alistair so there would be no way for Alistair to wed Anora....Anora won't marry her father's murderer.

Bingo...you are now his mistress. Alistair Completely and unconditionally loves you and will do anything to keep you.   If you want him or you to live....he'll have to bed Morrigan.

If you don't it makes for a great tragedy.....Tragedy #1....I leave Alistair behind in final battle...and you get some lame Eulogy, a Statue and so on....I did it just to see how distraut Alistair would be without me. Sad, but not sad enough for me.

Tragedy #2 and the most tragic.....If you take him with you he will sacrifice himself to save you....I tried every dialogue option to get my pc to take the fall with Alistair present....He gives his life not matter what....but if you pick....But this is insane.....you will at least begiven a final romantic kiss and his undying love before he dies.

This is probably too much information....but it takes a lot of work to get to this point...major backtracking.
