I'm not spending another penny on DA unless it's for Mac software. That said, I'm still thrillin' to Origins, and I'm on my third play through now (as a human Mage don't ya know). I plan at least two more full play throughs before I completely exhaust all content. I still haven't used Dog at all, and I'm only now using Shale in the Deep Roads.

I absolutely love DA: Origins, one of the best games to ever grace the Mac yet. Too bad the patches, DLC, and Awakening is still taking their sweet time doing... whatever it is that they're doing. I'm hopeful but not optimistic about our current situation (I'm just a pessimist like that). I checked at the ESRB website and sure enough, Awakening is rated M for the Mac. But then I got thinking that our crafty friends at BioWare and EA may get the rating just in case so I also checked the ratings on the last couple of expansions for the Sims 2 that haven't seen a release for the Mac and hey, they don't have a Mac rating. I'm not sure what I think about this. On one hand, my suspicion can be correct and that they got a rating for Awakening just in case they want to screw with out heads some more. On the other hand, they could be serious about bringing Awakening to the Mac. But like Dualie said, I'm not spending anything on DA unless it's for Mac. I shelled out my moolah on this software and I want to see it through. Unless of course, someone come out to announce that DA is abandonware then screw it, I'm getting bootcamp and... I'll do something, just not sure what.

yeah I've given up for the forseeable future, I've got a couple fun games in Origins and the mods keep things interesting

I'm with dualie though, I'll buy it for Mac but i'm not wasting my time with it for PC & Bootcamp... that'll just make them think there are less Mac users than there really are anyway

I agree. I was considering the Bootcamp route but have resisted. DA:O has so much replay value, I think I will stick to it and Mac software alone.

I've made a foolish attempt to "veto" Dragon Age for a bit by not playing it at all until someone say anything official about RtO, Patches, DLC, and Awakening. Managed for a month before failing miserably and now I'm on my second and a half playthrough. Seriously, though someone needs to say something soon, the suspense is killing me. Or a chunk of their revenue if they keep up the silence.

It's strange how Transgaming don't realize how they lose customers that way...

TG's customers, I believe, are the gaming companies themselves, not us. Given that most gaming companies that would employ TG don't care much how much discontent the game-buying customers show, how does our unhappiness lead to TG having fewer customers?

Port not finished in a reasonable time frame -> More people buying Windows version for Bootcamp -> Less people buying Mac ports -> Less proceeds from Mac ports -> Less Mac ports commissioned by the industry -> Transgaming loses customers.

Well said :) This is quite a wait but maybe, just maybe, Awakening will come out soon.

True, but most companies don't view things that far ahead, or through that much of a chain, even if people can see things that way.

Whether they view it or not - the result is the same. No company wants to waste money.

Actually I think the port was quite timely - and had they announced it before the PC release many of us would have only bought the Mac version ... but my cynical side says EA planned it that way to double-dip on Mac gamers ...

As for the rest, I stand by my 'unsupported abandonware' statements earlier. The only progress is through the community of hackers and others who are also generally largely responsible for efforts that end up with DRM like Ubisoft's ...

txa, just for the record, I was referring to the announced-yet-still-nonexistant Awakening port.

Just checking in and see no Awakening for my DA Mac port. Oh well. I haven't played the game in months because I was waiting on the Transgaming release. I haven't bought the windows version either, and WON'T!!! I don't care how good the game was/is. Rebooting into windows is a PITA. I can't check email etc in the background.

For me not an email problem, I just dont use a Mac to have to boot in windows, that's all. The support is a joke, people from the community show that there is a lot of improvement that can be done easily, but seems nobody at Bioware or EA or transgaming really cares ...

Hey, I thought I would add my 2 cents to this thread. According to my recent email to EA customer support there is a delay:

----
Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts Customer Support.

We would like to inform you that "Awakening expansion " is not available for Mac version.Since currently we got information from the developers that there is little delay in the releasing of the DLC "Awakening expansion " for Mac. So Please wait we will appreciate your passion. Please click the following link to know more:

You may keep an eye on official forums/ web sites for future updated information in regard to this.

The grammatical errors don't instill me with much confidence in EA's support team. But I can keep hoping Awakening for Mac is on the horizon... right?

Little delay? Little as in months? And what's with saying that it's not available for Mac then saying that there's a delay? I interpret that first sentence as "Sorry, Awakening isn't going to come to Mac ever." Then he/she/whatever proceeds to say "There's a delay in releasing the expansion." It's like saying that Santa Claus doesn't exist and then go on saying that he'll be late for dinner.

So assuming that it will come out for Mac then what's the delay? Did they all of the people working on this project conveniently lose their keys to their nuke-proof office so they have to resurrect the guy that made the unique locks for them to forge new keys from unobtainium? What's the hold up? If they do plan to make DA:O Mac abandonware then just man up and say it. It's not that hard to do the evil laugh.

They are asking for a hell of a lot of faith in them, faith that I do not have. I don't know how long it will be until the silence lifts but personally, I'm getting the idea that this is just delay tactics. Delaying the "DA:O Mac is an abandonware" announcement.

At least they said that there's an alleged delay. On January I send them an email about RtO and they replied that they've got no clue. Then again, what do these customer support guys know other that what the info given to them so I don't blame them really.

I must say I'm very disappointed that we haven't had more news regarding DA:O and DA:A for the Mac. I think BioWare (and EA in general) need to realise that all customers matter, regardless of the platform they play on. Us Mac users may be small but we can make a lot of noise!

I'll bet that the delay is due to Steam being released today.  They don't want to be competing for gaming dollars at the same time, so decided to push a few months out (maybe end of summer) before releasing to ensure a good amount of initial revenue.

Just like the patch was being worked on, and we should "keep tuned" on that as well, huh?

I'm agreeing with what's been said earlier. DA:O on the Mac is Unsupported Abandonware.

We were suckers for buying it at the same price as those on Windows, who *are* supported. We get a poorly-performing Cider port, and nothing else. No patches, no DLC, nothing.

Can't disagree with anything you've written there. I have nothing against Cider, they've used it to great effect in the Mac releases of City of Heroes/City of Villains and Warhammer Online, but "they" have really dropped the ball with Dragon Age. Missing features, not kept up-to-date.

And really, we don't know who to be annoyed with. I'm sure Transgaming would be more than happy to keep it up to date and make it full-featured... AAA games running with their tech are a great advertisement. Which leaves us BioWare and their EA overlords.

I haven't actually played DA:O since Steam came out, I've been too busy playing the Mac version of Torchlight. So much nicer than rebooting into Windows to play the up-to-date version of DA:O...
