Isn't there any official word on the subject?

It's pretty obvious that the ONLY reason a Mac version was released was to drive Mac users to buy the Windows versions. Since a Mac code will work with the Windows version, and Mac updates are nonexistent, I don't see what other logical conclusion there can be for this lack of parity.

Obviously, Mac sales are low. Some who didn't realize a Mac version was being released, already had purchased the PC version, and others have since switched over and/or recommended the PC version to others. This has cannibalized Mac sales, so as a result there will be NO SOUP FOR YOU.

I suppose dlhotka is right that they (whoever is really in charge of releasing content here) don't what to have their release dates conflict with the release of Steam on the Mac. Then again they got months to release Awakening, RtO, patches, etc before Steam on Mac comes out. Doesn't someone look at this forum other than us and the moderators? Someone who might be big enough to clue Transgaming/BioWare/EA in on our dissent? Do they even care that they're missing out on some moolah?

I'm still holding out hope that they will someday release content for Mac but at this rate I might as well be hoping for hell to freeze over.

Well, apparently many PC users are disappointed with Awakening (too short, badly developed companion characters, only one character from Origins (Oghren),...) so maybe we aren't missing out on too much anyway...

*ducks for cover*...

PS: Anyone checked the new "Darkspawn Chronicles"?

I read the premise of Darkspawn Chronicles on DA wiki, it's an alternate reality where you failed the Joining and the party is led by Alistair... Bad things happen when he lead. They get lost. People die. Anyway, you play as a darkspawn (a hurlock alpha I think) at the Battle of Denerim. Sounds kinda interesting to me.

As for Awakening, I still want to experience the storyline, talk to the characters and get the awesome gear. Especially the awesome gear. I don't like to miss any storyline, good or bad, and it is more of the game I love so I think I'm missing something. That's just my opinion of course.

There's a bunch of articles out now, about how Steam is more stable on Mac, that the average machine has higher specs than most PC's (except for some graphics cards), that Mac users tend to spend more money on software, etc. There's a real business case to be made for this port. Yep, Mac Gamers are only 8% of the market, but that's 8% right now that is spending money on something else.

8% is still millions of users. In most markets that would represent the difference between growth/profit or not. It's simply too big to ignore.

On the other hand, if you don't market to us, don't expect us to see your product.

Neither Bioware or EA are listening.

It is so nice with the lack of response and genuine informations on anything.

In my book, DA:O is the best RPG I have seen for MAC yet. Not playing much on my MAC, I only go with something which is really something. Just too bad that neither Bioware or EA cares about the future of DA:O on MAC, or so it seems from the lack of response and updates.

Transgaming just released a slew of new Mac games, so it appears they have been busy with everything except DAO. Clearly this puts this game in the abandon-ware category.

Fortunately, we can still use lots of mods and add-ons to help keep the game interesting.

I got a ton of emails from Transgaming talking about great new games they're releasing for the Mac. Such greats as Toy Story 3 and The Settlers 7... Yeah. It does look like they can't care less about DA:O Mac. What you said is true though, lots of mods out there to keep our abandonware fun.

With Neverwinter Nights, the actual fun started when some years later, whole community-designed 70-hour campaigns came out that rivaled and sometimes excelled the official campaigns in depth and design... (anyone remember Almraiven/Shadewood?)

Of course, voice acting, animation, cutscenes etc. will take a lot more work on DA:O, but I'm already looking forward to about 2014...

I notice on Steam today there was a huge ad for DA:O + Awakening and a bunch of other stuff. For PC only of course, but maybe this is a good sign for the Mac side too. Though I kind of doubt it at this point.

They're having EA week, yesterday was Mass Effect day, so wish I can get it <_< I've been wanting to play Mass Effect for a long time. Got a little peak of it at my friends's, pretty awesome. And the discount... *drool*  Do you think they will port non-Valve games to Mac? More specifically EA/Bioware games? If so they can have my savings account (metaphorically).

Hmm, no official word on the expansion.

I have seen this lousy support before with NWN and NWN2. Seems I was stupid enough to buy another Bioware game. No more.

Probably due to lackluster sales of the Mac port; that, and the fact that a lot of Mac gamers use alternate means to be able to run the Windows version of many games so they can keep them patched better.

Unless the DA:O custom made campaigns require the latest patches and expansions to work – just like it is the case for almost every NWN custom made content...

If you don't own a Mac, like Macs, or are trying to help those that do, then why are you posting in the Dragon Age: Origins Mac Technical Support forum? Lets try to keep the whole Mac vs PC war thing off these forums.

So it seems that the long awaited patch and DLC will be available for the Mac sometime this month. My question is: Now that RTO will be "officially" available for us, should we delete the RTO version that we already own? Or do we just change the version to the current patch (which would be the more logical thing to do, IMO) and hopefully not have any issues with the game, once it's patched to the latest rev. Any ideas?

Oh, and to the Mac hater: What makes you equate owning a windoz pc to having a life? Last I checked, computers take a huge chunk of your life, time that you would otherwise be spending doing something else in the real world. So tell me: Do you sir, have a life?

Since you haven't edited the actual contents of RtO in any way (just the required version number), I don't see why you'd have to delete it.
