Of course his accent is scottish, he's a reference to Scotty from Star Trek

Believe it or not, he isn't a reference to Star Trek.  At one time earlier in development, there were going to be light romances on the Normandy.  Unfortunately, we just didn't have the writing or cinematic design budget to do that, so the light romances were cut.  Ken was going to be the straight female light romance option.  My wife is a huge Ewan McGregor  fan, and she gets weak in the knees for a scottish accent.  Hence, Ken is scottish.  It was later when we were recording the VO that someone mentioned the Star Trek reference.  I face planted into my palms, then recovered by saying  "yeaaahhhh, it's an homage.  That's the ticket."

You, sir, just provided me a great deal of amusement.

Hahahaha. I can't believe it was unintentional!

Now if only he could have been with Shepard at Darkstar....

They make a nice pair.  Love how they play off one another.

Ken is Scottish, not Irish, hence his fascination with haggis, a Scottish dish. I thought Gabby was Russian at first but the accent seemed to fade :( More Russian Gabby!

I wish I could remember what Ken said eventually when Gabby kept teasing him about Jack.  Would be really relevant right now.

I love these two. Gabby romance option please? Though I suppose it would ****** off Ken.
But really. Love 'em, sad they're only minor NPC's.

I'll admit, I was a bit "Oh jeez, a Scots engineer... I see what you did there..."

The second he mentioned kicking the Collectors in the daddy-bags - sold! :)

I loved these two characters and the way they form a pair. Always ran by engineering after coming back from quests just to hear what they'd be talking about to each other.

The speech (I has good memory :D);

"You know we have a woman staying down in the cargo hold?"

"Really? if she touches anything I'll kill her."

"You also know she wears nothing above the waise but tatoos?"

"Oh... maybe I'll go welcome her aboard..."

"And that she's a crazy biotic etc, that can rip you apart with her thoughts?"

"Damnit woman, stop toying with me."

I liked how he called Talis head a 'bucket' and that it was a mighty fine bucket, and her suit was tight in all the right places. I lol'd there for sure.

Also, The mighty fine ass was good, as was the daddy bags. I have adopted daddy bags into my vocabulary.

They have talk about grunt, and every upgrade to the ship you make as well.

The femal energy was great as well;

"You'd say the ship is a she right?"

"Of course."

"And EDI's a she too right?"

"Of course."

"And Tali is a she (or similar)"

"What are you getting at?"

"I'm just feeling a little threatened with all this female energy around."

"You're such a dick."

"See, look where your mind went."

They were by and far among the best humor in the game.

Them and some of Zaeeds one liners, like on Jacobs loyalty where he comments about them chewing the walls, or after you beat the game and talk to Grunt.

That was probably my favorite line;

"So the biggest threat in the galaxy is beaten.. that leaves.... us."

The comic relief in this one was awesome.

Ken's Scottish, not Irish.

But yes, if possible, bring this awesome team back for ME 3!

I always visited Engineering after I found out about this pair on my first tour of the ship. Really liked the way they responded when Gabby one ups Ken and says "told you Shepard would come down here". My only regret is that on my CANON Shepard playthrough I only saved half the crew and lost Kelly and Gabby. Really hit home when talking to Ken and he makes the statement he'll really miss Gabby. I do too Ken - really sorry I messed up. On all my other playthroughs I make sure I go for them right away cause them and Tali make such an interesting combination.

I loved the time when Gabby was giving this somewhat lengthy and technical update on the status of the Normandy and Ken says something like, "I love it when ya talk dirty to me!"

Sign me up as among the supporters for their return in ME3!

I've caught myself doing the same.

You know a sci-fi is truly epic when you start adopting words from their frakkin' vocabulary.

And me dear departed grey-haired old grandmother used to make haggis. Loved it when I was a wee bairn. Then I got older and found out what was in it and kinda went off the idea.

Not that good with American accents beyond Californian - anyone
know where Gabby's supposed to be from? She sounds kinda Brooklyn-ish
to me, but I couldn't get a good finger on it.
