I also really enjoyed Ken and Gabby's banter. I made sure to visit them after every mission. I just love the sound of Gabby's voice for some reason. I'd definitely romance her if given the option.
Same here. I like how she says "pretty wicked".

I haven't noticed much love for Gabby and Ken here. What a pair, absolutely hilarious! Who can't find it in themselves to run after the lost crew just to make sure these two get out alive. Best NPCs by far on the ship IMO. Am I alone?
Secondary function is to raise support to have them included and developed in ME3. The biggest worry si that, because you may not save them, they won't even get a look in in ME3 :'( Those would be sad times.
By. Far. Two of the best new characters in ME2. These guys were hilarious and I genuinely felt bad when Gabby died on my first playthrough (didn't know about the timer). Of new crew members:
Gabby & Ken >> Kelly > that cook who doesn't wash his hands when he cleans toilets

If Kenneth says this, ME3 would be complete.

I'm hoping my second playthrough saves them.
It's kinda tricky, because I want to recruit Legion before Tali, so he can go visit the Quarians.
But that also starts off the timer for the IFF activation.
I'm just hoping I can get in Tali's recruitment and both Loyalty missions before the IFF is activated.
Anyone know if that's possible?

Shame on you people wanting to romance Ken or Gabby. They are clearly OTP without us.
Seriously. I'd feel GUILTY romancing one of them.

Recruit Tali first, open up her loyalty mission but don't do it, then get Legion. You should have time then. If you wait to recruit her until after you get the IFF, you won't have time, since you don't visit the quarian fleet on her recruitment mission, which is on a planet. Her loyalty mission is on the fleet. So that's 2 destinations and I think you get 2 free mission stops before the whole IFF action goes down.
But back on topic---I loved Ken & Gabby, and am disappointed to hear that the light romance subplot with Ken was cut. Typical, I guess, that they kept in Kelly, and for those importing I hear Gianni gets a little friendly but they cut Ken.....they could have LEAST have left in a comment from Ken to Gabby about a female com Shep, something in that inappropriate yet cute way he talks about Tali.

Indeed.
That said, I loved Ken & Gabby. Captain of the Normandy should marry them in ME3.

While doing a headcount of missing crew after destroying the Collector base, Gaby was one of those missing.
I did manage to save Ken though, for what it's worth. And he does say he misses Gaby.
I guess that's the price I pay for having Legion's interactions alter the story.
It doesn't look like you have any alternative if you want those.
I would have designed the game so either installing the IFF was manually required, i:e: you had to give the order to activate it personally or that main game missions (such as Tali's trip to the flotilla, which triggered the attack) aren't part of the countdown.

What if I forgo Tali's loyalty mission and go immediately after the Collectors?
If it works, I'll let you know.
I just hope Legion and Tali don't get dead, since their advantages are obtained during those missions.
And remember to thank Kasumi if this works, she gave me an extra Multicore amplifier.

So how many light romances were planned ? Kelly, Ken, Gabbriella ? Anyone else ?Dusty Everman wrote...

Of course his accent is scottish, he's a reference to Scotty from Star Trek
Believe it or not, he isn't a reference to Star Trek. At one time earlier in development, there were going to be light romances on the Normandy. Unfortunately, we just didn't have the writing or cinematic design budget to do that, so the light romances were cut. Ken was going to be the straight female light romance option. My wife is a huge Ewan McGregor fan, and she gets weak in the knees for a scottish accent. Hence, Ken is scottish. It was later when we were recording the VO that someone mentioned the Star Trek reference. I face planted into my palms, then recovered by saying "yeaaahhhh, it's an homage. That's the ticket."

No matter what I did, Tali ended up dead.
And now I'm even more annoyed, because first time out, Jack and Zaeed survived this mission.
And neither of them were loyal.
I guess I'll just have to accept losing half my crew and forget trying again.
Stupid IFF Timer.

It was totally worth redoing the Tali and Legions sections to hear that!
I'll upload the video sometime.
Got a lot of Mass Effect2 material to work through, so it may be a while.
