 She's getting better, at least. However, I know the Morrigan comparisons are getting a teeny bit silly, but I'd like to lay a bet Ms. Blonde Mage is going to be a nightmare for the "Velanna disapproves - 10".

Boy, she and my Dalish will have an interesting relatinship as my Dalish is a little pro-human, though wholly Dalish.  I see fireworks, and lots of them....

Yes, she is a Dalish mage, well that's one of my new companion wish list met, me like :-)

To the above, I don't think Dalish mages are exactly apostates, they aren't on the run from the Circle or Chantry, and have a different magic tradition all together, nor do Templars seem to spend their time even attempting to hunt Dalish Keepers (most likely the Chantry just ignores they exist and the Dalish generally keep out of human areas so it works well for both (a Dalish Keeper's first certainly wouldn't see themselves as a apostate, so she will have a different take on things then Anders for example)

How did everyone get hung up on this templar woman? There is a dwarf which is a warrior and also a bald guy who is a warrior...thats two warriors and niether of them is a woman. There is also a rogue with a pony tail and so that leaves basically one rogue which we don't know the identity of. For some balance I would suspect that last rogue is also a woman. No templar woman. That woman in red heavy armor in the Anders trailer is either an npc or Velanna with an AW spec and the camera was angled to make her appear taller.

I belileveit was mentioned that the Dalish, and elves in general, lost much of their culture and traditions. That would explain why the elves and the elven ghosts speak differently.



Anyhoo...Velanna.

She seems pretty damn pissed off, so you'll probably have to beat her to submission and carry her in a bag to your camp to make her join you.

I'll need more info on her to judge her character though.

Let's hope we at least get somebody connected to the Chantry somehow, even if it's only distantly like Alistair and Leliana proved to be.

LOL. I'd be cool if you could have a templar along just for the banter. Or even better, go report back to Alistair.

I'd rather just kill that human. Shem seems like he has it coming.

As a personality, and from the very little we've seen, she seems a bit less compelling to me than Anders. That said, I'm excited to play with Velanna,  who should bring out the worst in my main PC, as opposed to Leliana, who brought out the best. Her personality seems like it will interact well--and differently--with a range of characters, and that could be very exciting if they give us the freedom to play with it.

This could be a very interesting party. Not a party that my PC is going to get along with very well, at least so far, but interesting. Well, that's not completely true. She'll probably like Anders, even if she has some problems with his actions. Camp might be a pretty awkward and lonely place, though....

Well, If cullen is a rogue,we have:

Warrior (Oghren),Rogue (Cullen), Mage (That Anders guy), Mage2 (Valanna).



I kinda hope Valanna will give a new class, Druid or something similar.. But that's just hopeful thinking.

But If we have two mages, it kinda rules out that I will be playing as one.

Orgins had more companions to choose from, so it was different. I would never take a mage with me when I played one myself, they are afterall way overpowered.



If you play mage in Awakening, there will always be two, if you go with a full party. Im afraid that might make the game a little to easy... Ofcourse I cant say for sure, since I don't know how difficult battles will be in Awakening.

Why would there always be two mages in your party in awakenings if you play a mage? There are 6 companions in the expansion, 2 are mages.

Since I'm playing as somewhat of a self-hating Elf (growing up in an Alienage and then being shipped off to the Circle for being born a certain way does tend to make you kind of bitter...), I wonder if I have the option of offering Velanna as a new chew-toy for Swiftrunner?

i heard people talking about a female warrior, so i assumed the one appeared at 0:24 in this trailer is her

although i agree that she is more likely to be a NPC

I suspect how you dealt with the Dalish storyline will affect how she treats you. Maker help you if you sided with the werewolves...

Regarding the sylvans...given the number of times we see NPC mages summoning things with no actual spell or talent involved in doing so, this might just be something she can do when not a companion (possibly because it requires some "setup" rather than being something you can do on the spot?) - it seems a bit overly specialised for a specialisation, being an ability that you wouldn't expect to be of much use unless there are trees in the area to begin with.

She does, however, seem to be a strong hint to a Dalish specialisation doing something purely by her existence, though, doesn't she?

Some of the PC origins would probably appear no better from a 40 second snippet.

I'm gonna wait for more info before I pass judgement. I didn't think I'd like Jack in ME2, and BioWare managed to prove me wrong. So, need more info please .

Wow we get two more mages? That means we either get one rogue or one warrior. Interesting.

Err there's 6 companions (including the returning companion). So 2 mages leave room for 4 more, which will likely break down into 2 warriors and 2 rogues.

So we know who the 2 mages are, and I'm preeeeeeetty sure we know who 1 of the warriors is (*cough* OGHREN *cough* *cough*). We've seen at least 1 male human rogue in the videos (the one who looks a bit like Riordan from the Queen of the Black Marsh trailer), and what looks to be 1 male human warrior (the bald dude from The Children trailer, though we don't get a very good look at him). So my guess is that last slot will be a female rogue.

As for Velanna, we hear like two lines from her. I don't think we can really make a judgement based on that.
