Man... 2 apostates in the party and no Alistair... so much potential wasted :(

S'Okay, next recruitable character is going to be Cullen.

LOL. I'd be cool if you could have a templar along just for the banter. Or even better, go report back to Alistair.

Alistair: You're recruiting apostates now? Maker help us. How do you always end up with the weirdest companions?
Warden: It's a talent.
Alistair: They are dangerous, they may even be blood mages. How could you even accept them into the Grey Wardens.
Warden: Oh get over your self Alistair. We need all the help we can get.
Alistair: I guess you're right. And it's not like we haven't traveled with an apostate before.
Warden: (sigh) Don't remind me Alistair.
Alistair: What's wrong. You're being very evasive about that lately. I wonder why.
Warden: Umm... you don't want to know, really. Gotta go.

:P

*Later*
Alistair: So... mind telling me now?
Warden: I'm going to quote Oghren on this one.  "Twirl your pike..." elsewhere.
Alistair (confused): Oghren?  Wait, what are you talking about?
Warden: What are YOU talking about?
Alistair: *sigh* Never mind.

Yes, I've been reading too much of Oghren/Alistair's dialogue.  My fault for making an all warrior party.

As much as she would be inclined to spit in your Shem noble's face, my vengeful City Elf can't help but agree.

Excuse me, some of us would like to romance an arse-kicking female warrior.

*banter a few hours later*

Velanna: Umm, Oghren is there anything wrong with the commander? He's so distant. Is he always like that?
Oghren: What do you mean? He looks alright to me. Just a bit quiter than usual.
Velanna: Well you seem to know him better, so I figured you might know what's bothering him. Does he hate mages? That's the impression I got.
Oghren: Alright, I'll tell you but you don't go spreading it around. Back when we were fighting the blight he had this ...thing with a woman... she was a mage outside the circle just like you. Rumor has it that she left him right after the battle. I don't know the reason, he refuses to talk to anyone about it. I was too drunk that day anyway, but that's what I remember.
Velanna: I see.
Andres: Now you've piqued my interest.
Oghren: What's so interesting about me being drunk? Is it because I'm a dwarf? Sodding humans.

Wasn't there a female templar in the trailer ? Looks to me like there will be a female warrior in Awakening.

Looks like an NPC that really wants to kill Ander. moreover her voice sounds awfully quavery in the trailer, worse than Velanna's voice even.

No female warrior in sight... bleah!

I wouldn't mind a female templar, I would rather have a female Qunari, but I want at least one female warrior.

I like the idea of Oghren returning.

For the love of Leliana and the Maker ... Oghren hasn't been CONFIRMED. Just because there's a redhead dwarf doesn't mean anything. Stop treating it as facts.

Of course it isn't confirmed. That's why I say I like the idea, otherwise I'd say I like the fact. Now go use Caps somewhere else.

And the way they are recycling graphics, it's not even confirmed we saw Alistair in the trailer. Just because an NPC looked exactly like him, doesn't mean anything.

Well, I seem to be in the minority here, but I have to say that I'm looking forward to Velanna. Dalish Elf is my favourite origin (yep, in the minoriy here as well, I know ;-) ) and I can imagine my character getting along with her pretty well (from those first glances we've seen from her).

I'm also always grateful for non-Circle mages, because I've lost count how often I had wished for the dialogue option "Strangle Wynne". And learning more about Dalish culture and customs is always a good thing for me. So, all in all, I'm rather pleased with Velanna so far. (Of course I'm still heartbroken about the - possible - lack of Zevran, how my character will accomplish anything without him is beyond me... though getting out of bed/bedroll in the morning will probably be easier.)

I like her too. I actually wanted a blonde female Elf. What I don't like is that they gave her Morrigan's hair.

As a Dalish lover (and frequent player of druid-type characters) I really like the character concept, but her design is really boring IMHO. I mean come on, we can't get ANY new hairstyles? Did Morrigan's 'do really have to be copied? I'll almost certainly be using hair mods on her.

Hmm yes, they seem to be recycling the unique hairstyles from the main game so far (Anders with Duncan's hair and now Velanna as well). I agree, I too would have preferred another hairstyle (maybe even a new hairstyle, we all know that new character hairstyles are what makes a game expansion really awesome - a cookie for everyone who gets the "The Guild" reference), but those things can easyíly be changed with the toolset, at least for players with the PC version. Or you can give her a mage cowl to wear... did I just suggest that? *thinks of the mage cowl model and shudders*

Why would there always be two mages in your party in awakenings if you play a mage? There are 6 companions in the expansion, 2 are mages.

Well good news for me, since I tought there would be only 4. (Don't ask me why.)

I was thinking now, with all these 2 mages, and your "only 2 female" talks. I know the second female is a warrior, I posted a picture. What I was thinking, is a 50-50 party, half male, half female. If that IS so, and if we do consider the fact we have already 2 mages (and therefore making highly improbable to have an old mage returning as an old favorite), I think it could be either Leliana or Shale Returning. I am positively sure it's Shale in fact. Why? Because it's unique. IF of course we consider the game will have a 50-50...

C,mon do you really believe that in all of Fereldan and Thedas for that matter no other man wore his hair like Duncan? And no other woman ever put here hair up like Morrigan? It's hair and I will take character and character development any day over what some one looks like.

Velanna, hmmm?

My biggest concern about a companion with an "attitude" is that it'll be "-10 Approval" here and "-6 Approval" there all through the game, just like with Morrigan.

As for comments on her looks and hairstyle, I am half-tempted to wait this time around for a "Dragon Age: Redesigned" mod (http://www.dragonage...file.php?id=686) like I used for the original game. I can see already that Anders and Velanna both are going to need some kind of "makeover." ;)
