I don't think she particularly resembles Morrigan. And Morrigan is hardly a passionate and rage-filled defender of beloved family members, is she?

Also in reference to the hair, it will be a situation easily rectified if you dislike it with mods already available (I've used on popular hair mod to change Morrigan's hair to what I see as a more Morgan Ley Fay look :-)) so it shouldn't really be a problem.
And agreed with distinguetraces above, it's a very short snap-shot of her, so we can't really know if she's going to be with anger and hatful person throughout the game (Leliana's trailer was somewhat deceptive in some ways in Origins, seeming to indicate she was a complete nutjob)

I'm starting to loose my hope for a decent looking young and possibly romanceable lady in Awakening... please prove me wrong Bioware. Please.

Excuse me, some of us would like to romance an arse-kicking female warrior.
This. Honestly, it's time for Bioware to pull out a lady that wears more than a deep cleavage slinky dress and waves a stick around. In Ferelden women can definitely be warrior, I don't see why keeping the playable ones as mages.
Hopefully we'll get a female human (and young) warrior as well. It'd be about time.

About time? The game just came out. It hasn't even been out for half a year, we have had multiple DLC's and an expansion almost upon us. Velanna doesn't look old either. She has blonde hair and a young voice.

Young voice? You might want to watch the trailer again. That's definitely a granny voice, while high pitched.
Also, this doesn't look young at all to me.
if we look at the female companions in Origins, two were mages, one was a rogue. First female companion in awakening is a mage. It's 4 light characters and zero tanks. It's quite enough to say that "it'd be about time" to have a female tank.

Indeed, just look at Ser Cauthrien, female warrior in heavy armor wielding a two-handed sword. <3.
And I killed her. :innocent:

There is a way of letting her live and still getting the Summer Sword from her.The Woldan wrote...

I usually kill her the first time and see her later on just before the Landsmeet and talk her down so I wouldn't have to kill her again.

Like I said, a female possibly romanceable WARRIOR would be awesome. In the vein of Ser Cauthrien, a tough broad who doesn't take s---t from anyone... But, unlike Ser Cauthrien, isn't a complete tool.
Awww, she wasn't a complete tool, she just like many people in the world believed in someone too much, as a leader you can only hope that those supporting you will have the courage and intelligence to stand up to you if things go *off* She believed too much in Loghain to be able to speak freely, so this, yes, is *not good*
That said, I liked her. I would love a character like her. Even when you don't agree with her, you have to admit she would be great in a party off killing something.
How do you get the sword without killing her?

*injure* her first at the Queens rescue, get the sword let her archers *injure* you. Fort drakon follows on.How do you get the sword without killing her?
She reappears in landsmeet after Loghain came by to patch her up. (Her codex is fine aswell)
Included some RP.

I just hope that Velanna isn't as much like Morrigan as she appears.
Given that she's show actually caring about the welfare of another person, I'm not sure how she's like Morrigan at all. She even has *friends.*

Would work, except a child of an elf and a human is always human.Sandtigress wrote...
lol Wild speculation time. Maybe she's Fiona's daughter, since she's obviously not Fiona herself!
Sandtigress maybe operating under the wild assumption that a woman can sleep and have children with more than one man in her lifetime.

I really hope she is just mad at some humans and not all of them. Otherwise I imagine it's going to be one of those things were at first she resents and dislikes my PC because he is human and therefore in his spare time draws up Dr. Doom like plans to hurt the poor little elves of the land, but over the course of the game learns that not all humans, elves, and dwarves are a like and learns a valuable lesson about friendship and life.
And then it will be like 80s cartoons, with all the characters getting together at the end of the game and telling us what we learned today and making some silly joke and laughing.

When Cauthrien impeads your escape after rescue-ing Anora, go ahead and kill her (and loot her corpse for the Sumer Sword). But then let her guards kill you afterward. You'll be captured and sent to Fort Drakon, escape the Fort. When time to got to the Landsmeet, she will be waiting for you at the enterence there. You can then either fight her again (thus getting a second Summer Sword) or talking her down from fighting you and she will see the evil that Loghain has done and she asks that you have mercy on him and thus leaves never to be seen again.shantisands wrote...

She can try all she wants, she will never be as enticing as Morrigan. I need something that could really challenge my faithfullness.
Given she's not a love interest, I'm not sure why you want her to challenge your faithfullness to the lady that dumped you butt and ran off with your kids.

Is it established that she is not a potential love interest?
Meeh, she doesn't have to be in order to be enticing and challenge my faithfullness mentally
As for the Morrigan issue. Patience. All will be fixed in future expansions one way or the other.
