I couldn't find an answer to this in the first 10 forum pages so i ask:

Is it possible to upgrade the Incisor /Collectors Rifle and it just doesn't show or are they only meant to be used in the beginning of the game and replaced once the other weapons are upgraded?

All research upgrades affect the standard weapons as well as DLC weapons (+10% Assault Rifle damage etc.). These bonuses are only ever shown when you view what upgrades you have purchased (at your personal terminal or the lab in the Normandy).

When you recieve an 'upgraded' version of a weapon, it isn't really an upgrade it's a completely new weapon. Every weapon and every 'upgraded' weapon you find, you will always have access to via the Weapon Selection screen.

For example you start the game with the M-3 Predator Heavy Pistol but later it gets 'upgraded' into the M-6 Carnifex Hand Cannon. The M-6 doesn't actually have anything to do with the M-3, if you don't like it you just switch back to the M-3.

Not sure about the Incisor, but the Collector AR just gets delivered to the armoury as soon as you get the Normandy. You can just equip it to whichever AR user you have.

yes i know how i equip the weapons, but the other weapons get a noticeble sign of being upgraded like M-3c Predator, while the the with the Incisor or Collectors Rifle you don't get the a-b-c... indicators.

It's a DLC bug unfortunately, the name doesn't change but they do get the bonuses!
