and there is no problem getting them to marry if hes hardened?
You need to arrange it before the Landsmeet. Talk to Anora, suggest it, talk to her about it, then go talk to Alistair and convince him it's a good idea. Then, at the Landsmeet, you MUST NOT let Alistair execute Loghain. Anora will not marry her father's murderer. When Eamon asks you to moderate the decision of who will rule, you should have a dialogue that states "I believe Alistair and Anora have agreed to rule jointly" (or something similar to that).
Have fun!

If he is, he rules alongside, studies statescraft, but is still a beloved king.
If he isn't, (I've only personally gotten the rules alone epilogue card) he often escapes from the castle to visit the people because he hates governing. With Anora, I believe he becomes the popular face of the ruling couple, while she governs. In any case, he's not really happy as king.

Do what you thinks right, he's really not happy either way but if you harden him he's more acceptable to it.
Edit: Spelling error
Actually, if you harden him, he WANTS to be king. He'll tell you so quite vehemently at the Landsmeet, in fact.
"Make me King! Anora isn't an option."
(Not sure if he still says that if they've agreed to marry. I don't normally marry them off.)

He sure does!(Not sure if he still says that if they've agreed to marry. I don't normally marry them off.)
Hardened Alistair and Anora are a very effective pair of rulers, but I can't do that to Alistair anymore. He gets to find his own spouse.

He may not come right out and say he hates Anora but basically that's what he's saying and that he doesn't trust her, or maybe not so much hate as there is major distrust. N with that I don't blame him lol. (keep my prejudice opinions to myself) lol sorry.
Lol N according to a conversation between him n Shale he's still not ok with becoming king when he tells you to make him king...
Shale: So it has become king after all, yes?
Alistair: It looks that way.
Shale: Is this not a good thing? This is a position of importance, no? Did it not want to be king?
Alistair: Not really, no. We don't always get what we want, however, do we?
Alistair just can't make up his mind

So he can still say "yes, I want the throne" while also saying "I never really wanted it in the first place, but we don't always get what we want." His conversation with Morrigan is pretty funny though.

He also brags about being made king to Morrigan, hardened or not. Maybe he just wants Shale to give him a pity squish.
Lmao that could be too
Edit: By the time I'm done with the landsmeet I leave Morrigan at camp cause I know I'm coming up to that awful choice so I try n avoid her as much as possible by then, but I'll have to try it with her in the group lol

My "fairytale" ending is playing as a human female noble, locking up Anora (sure she's hot, but she'll get annoying), and marrying Alistair to become queen of Ferelden.
And you can also keep Leliana on the side as well, if you're into that...
Happy days.

Even if you've set it up beforehand, you'll stil have to "remind" them of it at the Landsmeet. They start to spat, so the Warden has to put them right for them to go through with it. Honestly, what would Ferelden do without you.Freckles04 wrote...

Hardened Alistair will, however, at several points say that he wants to be king and that he is looking forward to it. My HNF just had this conversation last night. She told him she was looking forward to being queen and he said "And I'm looking forward to being king. I would never have thought that before." It's not just about duty at that point.Sandtigress wrote...
I suspect its more like Alistair never wanted to become king - he would rather be able to be free, make his own decisions, and live his own life. Unhardened Alistair never really gets past this point and accepts the kingdom with resentment. Hardened Alistair is more willing to take on this role for the good of his kingdom, knowing that he can do it well, though a part of him still wishes for the freedom that not being king would give him. Were Cailan still alive, Alistair would hand over the kingdom gratefully. But given the choice between Anora as queen or himself as King, he knows it is in Ferelden's best interest for him to take the throne, and so he does so willingly, though not without regrets.
So he can still say "yes, I want the throne" while also saying "I never really wanted it in the first place, but we don't always get what we want." His conversation with Morrigan is pretty funny though.

Which I'm glad for. The guy's had so little freedom in his life, its good that he looks forward to doing something that was forced on him. lol Not having to marry Anora probably helps. A lot.
