I'll admit it up front, i'm a graphics and story person. I know my way around a computer fairly well (enough to build one from parts), but when it comes to software issues of this magnitude... well... *shrug* thats where i pop online and beg all you wonderful, smart, greatly incredibly wise people for help!! =^^=

so... toolset installs fine. just will not run.
the... whatsitcalled? SQL database? is NOT installing.
the only thing i could SEE that looked wrong in the install logfile was the following: "Property(S): WrongPackage = This MSXML6 Service Pack 2 (KB954459) package is not supported on the current processor type."
ACK! Now what?!
(for the record im running on an Intel Core2 Duo processor)

the toolset was one of the major selling points for me so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. =/.\\=

...and for the record... what the heck IS the SQL database? whats it for and why does the toolset need it?

The SQL database is the repository where the toolset stores designer resources, similar to a filesystem but with a lot more sophistication. The toolset uses one to better keep track of the interrelationships between all the resource types and to allow built-in revision control. So for example if you create a creature and a conversation for it to use when the player interacts with it, the database will know that the conversation "belongs" to the creature and prevents you from accidentally breaking the relationship between them.

Unfortunately there's a known issue with the MSSQL Express installer not playing nice with MSXML6 Service Pack 2. See the following knowledge base article about it:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968749

The workaround suggested on that page is to uninstall MSXML6 and try re-installing the toolset afterward.
