I was wondering if armor that gives bonuses to Power Damage (such as the Blood Dragon Armor) would affect the damage done by Ammo Powers, or if the game's code classifies them as Weapon Damage. Does anyone know?

I've often wondered that. With things like Biotic Damage Upgrades and Warp Ammo, per se...

would like to know this as well. cause if power damage does not apply to ammo powers then i feel for the soldiers the commando specialization sucks.

so i want to know the answer to this question as well

Yup, I've been debating this same question w/ myself for a bit too. Same for power duration (ie: burning duration w/ incendiary, inorganic stun/weapon overheat duration w/ disruptor, freeze duration w/ cryo, etc.)

No idea if this is the case or not.

Ammo powers are indeed affected by power damage bonuses.

Good to know.  And all this time I thought all the power bonuses were useless for anyone but techies and adepts D:

How are they affected tho? Additively or multiplicatively?

Say for Tungsten Ammo (max level AP) w/ 15% power bonus::

70% + 15% = 85%

or

70%*1.15% = 80.5%

While the first one (additive bonuses) would be awesome, for some reason I'm more inclined to think that it would be multiplicative. Either way, amazing to hear that ammo powers do benefit from +power damage.

Interesting. IT begs the questions whether Weapon Damage or Power Damage are the most powerful.

Well, as far as Armor goes, Power Damage gets a bigger boost if you've got the Blood Dragon Armor. If you go with a custom set, you can get the same bonus to Power Damage and Weapon Damage, so it's a matter of which you prefer.

You know, now I'm beginning to wonder which armor pieces (N7) or sets would be most beneficial for damage (as soldier/infiltrator).

Which is greater? Stronger ammo or stronger weapon damage?

They are affected like your second example. If a weapon power gives you 40% more damage, and you have 15% bonus damage to powers from armor, then you get:

0.4 * 1.15 = 0.46

So you would do 46% more weapon damage.

Wouldn't it be:

let x = dmg

- assume Tungsten gives 70% and another power bonus gives 15%

Final Dmg(x) = x*(1.70)*(1.15) = 1.955x

In other words, bonus is 95.5% combined. In that case, power bonus is really great :).

That explains why I barely see a difference when I let Garrus give me squad AP ammo compared to my own AP ammo.

Your equation is not quite right since the bonus is actually applied twice in your example.

MATH WARNING

In your equation the Final Dmg (x) can be de-constructed to be:

Final Dmg(x)
= x*(1.70)*1.15
= x*(1+.7)*1.15
=1.15x+1.15(0.7x)

As you can see, the 15% bonus is applied to the "base damage" x as well as the "bonus damage" 0.7x.

I really gotta say, Bioware is being awesome for giving us these "under the hood" bits of info.

Thanks a lot Eric.
This makes Commando a much more attractive specialization for my Soldier.

Do ammo powers count as tech powers for the tech damage bonuses?

Probably not but I figure it's worth asking.

^^ Curious about this myself? Would warp ammo be upgraded with biotic power boosts? Or is that also a tech skill? Would also beg the question if advanced powers reap the benefits of your class +to power damage.

Yeah, what we really need to know is how each ability is classified.  Do ammo skills count as tech or biotic abilities or are they classified as something else entirely?  The same applies to skills like Energy Drain, Barrier, Fortification, Geth Shield Boost, etc.  If each of these skills is affected by +% modifiers then which ones count for which abilities?

This is what we need to know before any of us can truly run the numbers for efficiency.

What kind of abilities are Concussive Shot, AR, and Inferno Grenades listed as?
