I'm doing Soldier for my Insanity run, and I've got several questions.

1. When distributing Shepard's Talent Points, what order do you distribute points in? Do you max out one skill, or even out several? I plan on maxing out Adrenaline Rush, Combat Mastery, and my Ammo Powr (trying to decide between Warp and Armor Piercing ammo at the moment), but should I even those out, or go for them in a certain order?

2. I know I want Miranda on my Squad, but I can't figure out who should get the third slot. Any ideas?

3. Any suggestions on how to distribute Squad Points on my squad members? As it is, I'm probably just going to raise all powers evenly.

Any input would be appreciated.

As a Soldier your squad does not really matter as you deal great damage to any target.

Miranda is the best squadmate for the squad damage and health bonus and overload+warp. I played with Grunt and Miranda throughout the game.

Level Adrenaline Rush first, it is Soldiers win button and most important skill.

Alright. The 'Adrenaline Rush First' response is about what I expected, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. Thanks.

Just a comment on your squad mates;

I think Miranda is a good choice. She's got abilities to wear down shields and barriers. With that said, I would focus her level progression in Overload and Warp. Slam won't be too useful on Insanity, you can't manipulate an enemy with shields and barriers. Furthermore, I would distribute points to her specialty (passive) ability. Squad boosts in health and weapon damage are invaluable. She's foremost a support character.

And for you second squad mate, I might suggest Zaeed. His inferno grenade is useful against armor and he can still lay down a decent amount of fire with his weapon load out. Not to mention he has concussion grenade, which works well against barriers, and disrupter ammo for the shields. Advance disruptor up to squad ammo and you'll be set against any defense, granted you choose warp ammo as your bonus talent.

As far as your Shep's personal talent points, I can't elaborate on the soldier's skills. I have yet to play as one.

My plan for Miranda is just to even out her 3 main skills. I won't bother putting more points into Slam until I've maxed out Overload, Warp, and her Passive talent. Assuming, of course, that I actually manage to do so. I'll see what happens.

Miranda has 31 points at level 30. (one is automatically given to Slam).

So you can have:
Overload - 10
Warp - 10
Passive skill - 10
Slam - 1

What?
Soldier is the most powerful class in the game and Insanity is a piece of cake.
By the time IFF mission comes, you gotta be level 20 at least.
With Adrenaline Rush, Revenant and Ammo of your choice you are unstoppable and it does not matter who do you bring with you.

Well if the IFF mission is what you're worried about, I would suggest bringing Jack and maxing out her SW skill to Improved SW. Again, Zaeed has his Inferno 'nade, which has nice AOE, ending Husk waves quickly. I agree, but for the most part, being a soldier is easy to work with on Insanity

I'd suggest Miranda for the squad weapon damage bonus....+legion/garrus/thane. The AI squadmates are awesome with the sniper rifles, so the choice is mainly:

Legion: Widow

Garrus: AP Ammo

Thane: Best passive.

Always run with Miranda. She can handle any defense, and has the best passive among any of your team mates -- it improves your damage and health... pretty cash.

Put some points into your ammo powers first. Adrenaline Rush is good with even 1 point in it, since every point into it until you evolve it at level 4 just reduces the cool down. At level 1, it's a 5 second 50% time dilation, with a 5 second cooldown, which isn't bad at all. I went level 3 in both Disruptor and Incendiary Ammo, then focused on maxing out Combat Mastery, which will help both your survivability and killing power. Drop Incendiary Ammo and get AP Ammo when you can, unless you don't really care about the DPS boost you'll get from it. After you've maxed out Combat Mastery (I chose Shock Trooper for the +paragon/renegade, but Commando is just fine too), then focus on Adrenaline Rush for the Hardened evolution... the 50% damage resistance will give you staying power and save your life. When all that's said and done, you can max out your Ammo powers... don't put even a single point into Cryo Ammo. It's pointless.

This man speaks the truth.  Your squad should be tailored to the needs of whatever particular mission, even as a soldier.  Your ammo isn't unlimited and you'll need some way of stripping enemy defenses before you unload on them.

I don't understand why any Soldier or Infiltrator would ever leave home without Miranda.

I mean what's not to love about 15% bonus weapon damage. Keep in mind that your squad mates do approximately 1/2 damage with weapons, so Miranda buffing you by 15% is more valuable than Thane's personal damage buffs.

And Miranda comes with Warp and Overload, meaning she's effective against shields, barriers and armor. Really, I don't see how this is even a question.

For my second squad mate, I like to take Garrus for a second Overload and some crowd-control with concussive shot. His Ammo power is also really nice.

If you want to customize your party to deal with collectors, then swapping Samara in for Garrus isn't a bad idea.

If you bring someone along that has an ammo power, you can level them to Squad Ammo while you work on your Adrenaline Rush and class Power.

I did it with Miranda and Zaeed, they weren't much help at the end but miranda's squad buffs keep you alive long enough to pop cloak (i am an infiltrator) and she's pretty decent with cryo ammo on her smg...

Havent tried Insanity yet but I head Zaeed's nades are nasty especially if you get the bonus as well. Inferno nades up the wazoo!

Good job clearly missing the point

Its not that its impossible to do the mission with her, its just needlessly harder to bring miranda.
You can solo every mission on insanity but thats not the point.
He is asking what the best possible squad is, and I told him the truth.

The best possible squad depends on the mission.

How does bringing Miranda make the IFF mission harder?
She buffs your damage by 15% meaning you kill husks faster.
She has slam that insta-kills unarmored husks/abominations.
She has warp to help deal with Scions.

Just put her undercover and she'll be fine.  The only place where it's hard to keep her alive is the final room because there's no cover there.  But even there, her bonus to weapon damage means you clear the room faster.  And the only squad member that can survice much longer than her when surrounded by husks is Grunt.

Zaeed's nades kinda suck because they don't benefit from either th +50% to tech damage or +50% to biotic damage you can research.  Inceneration Blast from Mordin or Area Reave from Samara turns out to be much better.

For a squad, Miranda and Zaeed, Miranda and Grunt, or Miranda and Legion are amazing. Zaeed can get a +50% weapon damage boost, which brings him close to your damage level, and being AI controlled gives him relatively good aim, and not to mention unlimited Ammo. Grunt has that passive spec that gives him 55 regen per sec. If you give Miranda that passive spec that boosts squad health, he's not going down anytime soon. Legion... well, he's got the Widow, and the aforementioned aiming skill and unlimited ammo. He's not as good a choice as Zaeed or Grunt, IMHO.

I liked Grunt for most missions. He was rather low maintenance with his barrier ability and krogan vitality and regen.

For squadmates I'd go Zaeed & Garrus with my renegade Shep.

As if you mess with them. Dudes with facial scars have usually seen some serious sh*t.

Plus, Zaeed's lines during cut scenes make me lol, like when you finish Legions loyalty mission.
