Disappointing to run into a DLC roadblock so early in the game

It's extremely simple, if you do not like the DLCs, do not buy them.
There's no reason to whine and cry about it.
I had to agree there.. It took me a few lines into the dialogue with the guy to realize he was trying to sell me Wardens Keep.
Maybe DLC quest givers should have a different color to their names? I dont have any grudge against the DLC itself, I've fought with bug squasher dept's a few times, but it would be nice to know where the original game stops and the optional content begins.

At least the DLC gives people the opportunity to get the 'CE' content if they want it at a later stage.

I must respectfully disagree.
The DLC offered is essentially a side quest which if you choose to not purchase won't break the game.
If you weren't ever planning on purchasing it, why would it matter if it was in the 4th hour of the 44th?
And while some games that release day 0 DLC can be criticized, in this instance, a totally optional side quest in a game already bulging at the seams with gameplay hours is probably the wrong tree to send your Mubari war hound barking up.
It does break the game because the side quests that do exist are pathetic, meek, unsubstantial, or whatever adjective you want to use to describe them.
How would Baldur's Gate II have been if you had to pay $7 dollars for the Planar Sphere, Firkraag's Dungeon, Trademeet, etcetera?
The game is not bulging at the seems with gameplay hours.

It was also cool to know when exactly that quest pops up. I was worried about playing past it and not finding it again.
So it's really just about opinion. It's not right or wrong. It is what it is.

Which DLC did you encounter within an hour of game time?
If you go to your camp, there will be a character there that tries to get you to help him with a quest, ie, he tries to sell you DLC (Warden's Keep). It was a little odd, if not somewhat off-putting. I still bought the dlc, though, for all my whining is worth.
I highly doubt ANYBODY got there in the first hour of playtime even on easy mode.

Screw that. If your game is worth $65, then charge $65 for the fraking game and include all the damn content available on day 1. Don't charge me $50 and then stick a used car salesman NPC in my RPG to grab another $15 out of my pocket for "extra" content, or "content that got cut but is now finished" or whatever else you want to call it to make us feel warm & cuddly about the experience. All it does is make me feel ripped off, either of the $15 I lose or the quest content I'm not getting.

If you don't have Warden's Keep, the NPC shouldn't be there. You shouldn't be subjected to what is essentially an advertisement in a $50 game.

The only thing that I find really disappointing about this is that the NPC for Warden's Keep is there at all advertising the DLC even if you didn't buy it.

Now that part I can kind of agree with. I could have lived without the NPC being there too but at the same time, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. I'll lose sleep playing this game though because it's awesome.

Breaks my immersion. That's a reason. Fanboy.
So don't let it break your immersion.
Oh wait, but if you did that, you would have one less thing to cry about on video game forums....
In short, IFSW(Its Fine, Stop Whining).

It's fun to watch the fanboys twist themselves into semantic knots to justify BioWare's actions on this. As though someone defining what your $50 buys you for in-game content makes it ok to discover 10% of the way through the game that you need to cough up an extra $15 to play all the content. Oh but wait, someone somewhere said that doesn't COUNT as "full game content". So it's ok? Really, on the day the game is released???

It's fun to watch the angry haters obstinately remaining ignorant of the facts and using woolly logic (e.g. "all the content") to justify their own nerd-rage.
So let's try and lay this out without "semantic knots".
You pay for the game --> you get the game... plus some stuff that was too late to get onto the final DVD.
You pay extra --> you get extra content.
Clear enough?

The original poster expressed disappointment, not rage.
...you might actually consider listening to the many things the developers at Bioware have to say about the DLC.
Not relevant. An "uneducated" customer pays the same amount for the game as an "educated" customer.
...I know it makes people feel good to show how rebellious and oppressed they are, but in this case, you're just wrong.
Also not relevant. The devs need to know where the majority of opinions fall ...regardless of whether those opinions are "right" or "wrong"...so that they can tailor future content in a way that makes the most business sense.

Just browsing through the forums - lot of people loving the game, but many finding faults...nothing will ever be perfect. The DLC? Well it there if you want it but not essential, plenty of game to get through. Playing DA on xbox360, having gone through the agonies of playing Fallout3 on ps3 (glitchy port, no DLC, then yes DLC, then delayed DLC, then 'extended load times and constant console crashes' DLC), this is a breath of fresh air. I hope Bioware bring some more DLC to the table in time, just give us a couple of months to finish what we already have!
p.s. Dwarves rule - first time I've been able to play one having roleplayed them in my youth...
Again, the thing is that the quest giver should not be there if you don't have the DLC. If you don't have the DLC, he just serves as an advertisement, which I can understand would be pretty darn annoying if I didn't have the Warden's Keep.

I had a similar post before this. I have no problem with the DLC itself. But I don't see a need to insert a NPC into the game to advertise it. If you want people to see it, just put it on the Launcher like they did with NWN2 and its expansions, or even the Main Menu.
This is how it should be, while I have all the DLC currently, and have no problem with them adding more, I'd rather not be the target of advertising for it while I'm playing

No kidding. I fail to see any issue here.....
Don't want the DLC? Don't buy it.
The NPC with quest bothering you? Move your little pixel-boy/girl away......
Don't have any money to get the extra game play? Tough. There will always be folks with more stuff than you.
