So i just did the test at gamesforyou.com and it says i only meet the minimum reqs. Im wondering if for the best game experience i should go the xbox route?

i feel like this game is going to be made for PC and with all the user created content i might be missing out if i go console version, but id really rather have a smooth gaming experience. what do you guys/girls think? Posted ImagePosted Image

Well, if you plan to upgrade your PC eventually and can stand lowering graphics quality enough to play, I'd say go for it. You could pick it up on 360 instead if BioWare's DLC is enough to sate you. Otherwise, PC is the only option in my opinion.

I don't really trust testing sites. It's probalby true that you woun't be able to run in ton max settings, but it still may be a smooth run on PC. Check your processor against the requirements, it it exceeds them a last a little you may be fine. As fare as I understand main "work horse" for DA:O is processor.

Are you saying that the GPU isn't the most important piece as with some more graphically intensive games? That it's really going to count on your processor?

Cause my processor rocks. My GPU not so much (8800 GT)

Technically... PS3 runs on 7800 based chipset, so your GPU 'technically' should be more powerful than both ATI xeon in X360 and RSX in PS3, and 'technically' any CPU is better than what's used in console...

so ya, 'technically' is something useless, so yeah, Sshodan is right, you can't trust any numbers and those site are based off it. Would be nice if Bioware releases a bench program much like what most JP games have. (i.e. RE5, FFXI) so players who have doubts in their system can test, it's the only way be for sure.

Those internet testing things are always wrong.

Btw, that 8800GT should be enough for max settings or close to it, though perhaps not at super-high resolutions or with AA.

For more details please see the sticky posts in the group linked in my sig :D

I am so on the fence with this one. To play this game right I need to get a new video card and maybe power supply for my comp. Thats like at least an exta $150 to play this game. Yet missing out on the extra content and all that sucks. I am guessing I will get it for the 360 fall in love with it and then upgrade my comp to play the extra custom content. This adding an extra $60 dollers to the $150. Bah I know I will do that yet still I can't bring myself to upgrade my comp.....

Lol sorry had to vent.

Yep, devs stated several times that the game is processor heavy, and my guess is that a good portion of performance depend on it. Graphicaly it's fare from being demanding :)

Uh, not quite.

Especially concerning CPU and system memory, you guys shouldn't be worrying as much about meeting the recommended system requirements for playing this game. I run the game fine on my 2 gig vista/2.13 GHz Core 2 Duo machine at home, and I'd be suprised if someone experienced significant performance gains when running Dragon Age on a quad core CPU, compared to an otherwise identical setup with a dual core CPU.

The video card will probably affect your experience more. Even though you'll get the full game experience on the minimum required graphics cards, having a recommended or better video card will make a difference in the visual quality of the game. That said, it very much depends on what kind of gamer you are and how much attention you pay to graphics. I personally enjoyed the game just as much on my laptop playthrough using the lowest visual quality setting.

If it was me, I would probably get the PC version anyways. The lack of features in the 360 version are really crippling for me. I would rather lose graphical quality a bit and gain the tactical zoom and camera control.
Plus as others said, you could always upgrade your computer later, then you can replay in it's full glory.

I dont' know, NWN bottle-neck was indeed on CPU they made every single NPC run their massive AI script every 6 sec with 'heartbeat'.  Stuttered the heck out of me to a point it was unplayable until I upgraded to a HT-capable CPU.  At the time I had a GF4Delux from asus that rans Morrowind @180fps 1024x768 and can't make NWN 'smooth'.  KoTOR did the same thing, upgrade from GF4 to ATI 9800PRO that runs UT2K4 @180fps 2xAA still handled KoTOR with plenty of stutter.  Just the history of BioWare games makes me wonder how much truth is in Andreas' statement.

I red that amount of cores is not that important, DA:O can run on single core processor for example, but it has to be a very good one :D

OP, can you tell us what your setup actually *is*?
