Anyone else here absolutely love the character Morinth? Shes femme fatale made incarnate. A literal avatar of predacious love, untouchable in its vivacious primality. Just going from appearance alone, I think it would be hard to argue that she isn't undeniably the most physically attractive Asari in the game. She approaches her victims as a mirror of all that they are, a lone fragile soul in a hostile galaxy whos remained untainted, struggling to find affection, even love, universe that has only one universal law, that of atrophy or dispair.
At the same time, she is all that they wish to be. She remains lively, her hope still kindled deep within her bosom, still warm in a galaxy where the only universal is the cold oblivion (of space, or of death. Perhaps they are one and the same), and the only constant darkness. If he facade is deceitful, it is aware in its deceit. What she embodies contradicts the universe. It opposes all reality.
And thus, it is no surprise that the climax of her affection is death. Her untouchable, ethereal love in its affiance, provides a holy sanctum for her victims a dream so poignant its only realization can only be to cease.
To draw a parralel, the author Neil Gaiman portrays the embodiment of Death as a beautiful women, though lacking the apparent murderous psychopathy of Morinth

She comes at the end of her clients life, to escort them to the Afterlife, they, in their hearts, assign for themselves. And though she is the goddess of Death, she is often mistaken for the goddess of Love. (which, in Neil's canon, does not exist, the closest being that of desire). She embraces the most downtrodden, the filth, those deemed unvalid, those beings who have already died, long before their hearts stopped beating, with the same, unprejuidiced, heart wrenching affection, for simply having died. And by proxy, simply having lived. For many, she is their first love. For all, she is their last.
And like the hedonistic ecstasy of Morinths love, her love is also one of Deaths embrace. Perhaps love and death are one and the same. After all, can anyone of us deny that statement? Who here has experienced death, and returned? None. And while many of us may claim they have experienced love, how many of us has truly ever return from being loved by another? None.
Death is permanence, while love is fleeting, the flame doused in a universe of apathy, entropy, hatred, the shackles of our mortal flesh, and the harsh realities of the world. Morinth is a representation of the two ideals, a Sacred, untouchable matrimony of Love, and of Death.
The true tragedy of Neil Gaimans Death is despite all the comfort she gives her clients, her victims, it is assigned to her to kill every last being in this universe, once it has reached is finite end. And afterwards, in a unliving universe of darkness, of absolute cold, where the most significant cosmic event in billions of years will be the movement of a quark, she shall take her own life. And the true irony is that Death shall be the only being to have died alone.
As must Morinth. She has killed, and she enjoys it. Yet in every kill, she is the gratification of a dream to her victims. And despite this, she will die alone, unwept. She has given love to countless individuals. Yet, she can never be loved.
Embrace Eternity.
