Apparently I have this in my computer and from looking around that it's a fake antivirus that tries to scare you into buying some crap

question is how do I get rid of it?

Well, I don't have Vista, but I assume it's similar enough to XP that this'll work (and at least according to what I found with a quick search, it should be).

Boot into safe mode, download a virus removal program if you don't already have an up to date one - and even if you do, if the one you have doesn't find anything (chances are it won't if it didn't block it to begin with). Malwarebytes worked for me, but likely so would others. Run it, do a full scan, and it should find it. Everything should then be fine if you boot normally.

If the virus has gotten far enough you might not be able to boot into safe mode, and then it would be a bit more complicated. I got hit with last year's version a few times when my AntiVirus program was out of date, and the worst thing I had to do was a repair on Windows (boot from the install disc for that) to get it to boot into safe mode.

If that doesn't work, you could try some of this stuff or search around the web some (that's just the first site dealing with it I found on a quick search).

Hopefully that's of some use.

For anyone that reads this thread, & the TC, Any 'Anti-virus' that pops up outta nowhere is a Virus trap. Never click on them. If ya see the pop-up, you're already under attack, & if ya click it's links, then the Virus will take ya to somewhere for it to download reinforcements to waste your puder with.



Keep your Anti-virus up-to-date. Set it to auto-update as well, & I recommend every day full auto-scans.



I got one of these once, a false XP Anti-virus. Thankfully, my lazy bum McAfee defeated it eventually.
