I beat insane already with a vanguard. I suppose I could do adept... but I wish there was a harder difficulty.... last boss was so easy on insane.

Are you in- oh, someone did it already.

NG+ Insanity is like a harder difficulty than Fresh Game Insanity (what I did), I hear. Scaled enemies and you don't have any upgrades.

Of course, you probably did Insane with a new game plus....

Yes, I'll add that:

NG+ Insane with Level 30 Vanguard = Harder Difficulty Than Insane

Oh the first time I played insanity it was new game+ and i was only like level 26. It was really hard at the beginning but by the end of the game I was charging most things and blasting them in the face with the krogan shotgun =| wish there was more stuff to kill.

Last boss was so lame even on insanity.

Dunno whether you're on PC or not, but I think there's some stuff in Coalesced.ini that you can fiddle with related to the different difficulty settings. Never tried it myself, and it may be one of the many settings that don't actually do what they seem to do, but it's worth a glance.

Play with one hand tied behind your back.

I wish there was a difficulty setting that involved the AI being more challenging rather that giving enemies massively boosted hp pools.

There's various settings in the .ini to boost enemies reaction times, reduce cool downs, increase their accuracy as well as the obvious health and damage boosts.

Thats still just stat tweaking. I wish I could play against enemies that had reasonable stats, but were difficult because they were using intelligent playstyles and tactics.

I know that's asking a lot of AI, but as long as we're making wishes here...

Some people are masochist. You sir, are one.

You know, Halo had a really good idea with skulls. Numerous combinations of rule changers to make a hard fight into an impossible one.

Here's one for ME...no saves in mission, can only really on autosaves.

There's only so much you can do to make a game harder short of making enemies invincible. We still need to make advancements in enemy AI and stuff like that so developers don't have to just crank up enemy damage and HP and make the enemies actually smart.

Anyway, you shouldn't say "I beat it as a Vanguard" as if thats some kind of achievement, just makes you sound inexperienced.

I'd imagine AI programming is one of the hardest parts of development, so many variables. It'd be nice though.

If you want to really go for the frustration factor, pick an adept but don't spend any points. No skills, no extra guns, no upgrades, pistols and melee only. Final destination.

edit: and yes, true inteligence simulation from an AI is extraordniarily difficult to create. Thus the widespread use of other methods of increasing dificulty.

If you took an assault rifle training in your first playthrough, can you SWITCH to the krogan shotgun in NG+ ? cause my vanguard is having a hell of a time with the new eviscerator... in fact i'd go so far as to say i hate the thing.

-Edit- I am playing  NG+ lvl 30 vanguard with reave spam as my bonus ability, and the battle rifle which i'd love to switch over to the claymore if possible. I just finished Horizon, which wasn't nearly as hard as i had heard it would be. I'm waiting to see how bad the collector ship is.

I'd rather the devs add some decent enemy AI. Stuff like having one guy distract you while another swoops in from the side has already been done in other games. It would take the combat in ME to another level.

The only thing I've noticed about the ai is:

-all mechs bum rush you

-geth hunter, geth destroyer, and the vorcha flame thrower guy all rush you

-krogans rush you

-anything with a shotgun rushes you

-husks and those other melee stuff rush you

-harbringer rushes too

everything else basically sits behind stuff for you to slowly pick off.

Yeah the AI isn't really that challenging, it's mostly just the pain in the ass shields and armor.
