Grunt, hands down for me was the worst. Yes he was the ultimate Krogan (I am Krogan) but who can argue with the man who introduced us to the Krogan, Wrex.

I fear that Wrex is going to be replaced by an upstart tank bred psycho who re-lives his life on force fed memories.

You mean i'm not the only one who fears this...?

If Wrex or Grunt ever get into a fight i got all the creds in the unvierse on wrex. Grunt may be a pure krogan but Wrex is experienced and no amount of force fed memories will give grunt that power. Plus if it turns for the worse Wrex has my shotgun to back him up :P

Zaeed. Zaeed Zaeed Zaeed. BioWare can do better than what we got with him.

I feel bad for Jacob. So many people hate him for being plain, but he's supposed to fill the role of the plain, drama-free, good soldier. He also fills an important role in the Cerberus storyline.

Miranda serves as a loyal Cerberus cheerleader who never says anything bad about them or TIM until the final mission (if you blow up the collector base). She's a great supporting voice for renegade/cerberus-friendly Shepards.

Jacob, on the other hand, makes it clear that he disapproves of their unethical work and has the balls to tell TIM directly. Yet, Jacob recognizes that if you want to get important stuff done you work with Cerberus and not the Alliance/Council. He's a great supporting voice for paragon/anti-cerberus Shepards.

Unfortunately, there's nothing obviously screwed up about him so he's boring and his power selection leaves much to be desired. Someone mentioned that he used to have warp, but the power was given to Miranda instead. If that's true, then BioWare seriously gimped this poor guy.

As for which characters I dislike... none. I "got" all of the characters.

At first I didn't like Grunt, but he has some of the best in-combat lines and I found him very useful in combat. In a few hundred years he may become as awesome as Wrex, be he's already pretty good.

Jack was so extreme (in terms of language, look, and attitude) that I liked her from the start. On my first play through, I think I told her I was there to rescue her and she responded by calling my male, paragon Shep a D--N P---Y! I laughed for about a minute straight after that, especially since Shep actually looked pissed. After doing her loyalty mission and going through the romance dialog, you can't help but understand why she has such a bad attitude.

I liked all the others as well for various reasons. If I had to pick a least fav squad mate, it would be Morinth. Kind of a cop-out on my part, but I just don't see any reason why I should add "a soul-sucking murderer with a death fetish" to my crew in place of a Justicar.

As for non-squad NPCs, it'd be a toss up between Udina and the Illusive Man. They're both obvious megalomaniacs. TIM is willing to do anything to gain power and Udina is willing to kiss any ass to gain power. Also, something about Kelly rubs me the wrong way. She's just way to flirty. I think she's the reason scale itch made it onto the Normandy. Note to self: Keep Kelly away from Urz.

Jack easily. Couldn't stop wondering why I wasn't able to slap some sence into her, I don't care how terrifying a biotic she is my shephards easily stronger and it irked me to have to put up with her crap.

Especially when you first pick her up, wheres the leave her with her own stupidity on a sinking ship option?

Liara, Jack, Jacob.

Not for any particular reason, they were just the most annoying of the series.

"BURN YOU SON OF A ****" Zaeed is easily one of the top 5 best characters.

Also, how could anyone not be in love with Spike Spiegel Grunt? I dove for him at the end of the suicide mission, thought I'd drop him 'cause he's a chubby-ass Krogan, but apparently Shepard is strong as balls. I'm in love with Grunt, I wanna make him scream, "Ohhh battlemaster<3."

My least favorite character is Jacob. He's ok. I'll bro hug him all day, but he's still not as cool as the rest of the crew.

Jacob was the worst by far nothing original or new. Only character that I actually skipped dialogues with the first time through nothing new even his Loyality mission seemed to lack.

I guess I'm that rare breed that enjoyed having Jack along and who also liked Zaeed. There wasn't much you got to do with him, but what you did do was pretty cool.

Jacob is more or less null, he doesn't really have much of anything going on in his character, he was just sort of there. Miranda and Samara were annoying. there was nothing interesting about Miranda, she really was just a cerberus cheerleader. It would have been cool if there had been more there, if she had been playing games and holding cards to herself, yknow, USING, that genetically engineered brain of hers. Samara wasn't even a whole character, everything that she was was the code, which would have been interesting if that had been acknowledged in her character, but it wasn't, and so she became something less than a person.

In all this thread I don't think I've seen Thane mentioned once, either positively or negatively, so i'll be the first. he is awesome. not quite as awesome as mordin, but pretty damn awesome

In terms of actual character use then Jacob was my least favourite. He's got a *very* poor set of skills - fire ammo is a dime a dozen in your team, and his set of weapons are completely out of whack. Barrier was a poor choice for a soldier with so little offensive options. Pull was his only good skill, and my own Shep, Samara and JAck all had that. Wht wasn't he given a Legion/Grunt style upgrade, where he could use ARs to begin with then eventually progress to wielding a revenant?

In terms of the character themselves, Jack annoyed me. I realise what she's been through and all that, but the way that she dismissed everything that happened to the other kids and just decided that she survived simply because of how badass she was - she just reminded me of a dark version of Kevin the Teenager. Once I gained her non-romance loyalty, though, I kinda warmed up to her - she came across as far more level-headed.

Jacob was my least favorite.  Initially Zaeed was my second least, but he's actually one of my favorites now in terms of what he brings to the group.  Really, only Miranda or Thane bring more than Zaeed.

Liara. Definitely. So different and cold (she was my romance in ME1). That was puzzling because I though she cared a lot about Shepard.

I like Jacob, way more believable for a good soldier like him to take on a suicide mission than say Jack. Jack is the ultimate expression of a selfish, murderous brat, why would she put her ass on the line for anyone? Or Zaeed for that matter, while I think the basics of a good character are there, it's a bizarre departure from his character to offer to die for someone else. THe others I can forgive, even the powerfully lame characters of Samara-sad-face-I-Killed-My-Daughter-burdened-mystic-warriors-are-rare-in-RPGs and frog-man-sad-face-assassin-guy-cryin-because-I-was-a-bad-dad, but Jack and Zaeed are way out of place.

Least favorite character would have to be femshep. Seriously, whats with all the flirting? She makes Kelly look chaste. Can't she have a normal conversation with the males on her squad?

I actually enjoyed most of the squad in both games, though I think it was poor on Bioware's part to make it nearly impossible to have meaningful interactions with LI characters in ME2 beyond "let's get busy." If you didn't show interest in one of the LI characters they shut down, which sucked.

I'm going to be a bit different here and say I actually liked them all. And most of the time my companions in other games are just along for the ride. Perhaps in ME1 it was the fact I had to take an elevator any time I wanted to talk with them, or the fact that 90% of their backstory was narrated in a few minutes of conversation and then largely ignored. This time around the loyalty mission do get you into thier lives, or whats left of them, and they do a much much better job of getting you to connect with the team and caring about them. If I was forced to chose the weakest out of them all it'd be Jacob, as he seems to be the new Kaiden, and just as bland, though the fault isn't really BioWare's, its just that characters like him are needed and characters like him are also boring people when you hold them up to the rest of the crew.

I fully agree, Also, thanks Bioware for fleshing out Joker a bit more.. I love him.

Jacob was my least favorite. First off, he taunted Tali when he said "Be sure to meet the New AI" (I wanted to kick him in the balls for that comment.) Second, he was just too flippin' stuffy. Someone with a burr stuck up their ass doesn't come off as irritating as Jacob did.

Grunt was my favorite new ME2 character. His "I'll keep thinking up good deaths, and you do that funny human thing you do." quote was hilarious. Although Mordin's Gilbert and Sullivan routine was damn funny too.

My favorite so far from ME1 and ME2 is Tali'Zorah. She's just a kick ass engineer, and a sultry voice for an alien. Her "Go for the Optics" reminded me much of Boo and Minsc :) And, if you romance her, you still don't see what's under the mask, even though Shepard does. CURSE YOU BIOWARE! ;)

My Least favorite Character is Samara, all that Justicar code is crap, and she's too weird, at the end of my first playthrough (not transferred from mass effect 1, my disc got destroyed by my Xbox 360 before I could finish Feros T.T) two of my characters, Jacob and Mordin had died and I was like "WHY COULDN'T SAMARA HAVE DIED!?" I actually did her loyalty quest just to get Monorith and trash Samara. The only point in the whole game that I liked her was when I did the swarms part in the Collector Ship, I picked her to barrier hoping she would die, and how at the end of the barrier she did a massive shockwave thing that just blew out all of the enemies.

My favorite character is Tali'Zorah (Not saying the other part name because it brings up a huge arguement about the loyalty mission and blah blah blah) She is obviously the nicest, kindest, and most sincere of all of the characters in the game, I usually end up smiling every time I go down to the check to talk to her. Even when I do renegade runs I always have more then one bar of paragon because I'm very nice to Tali :innocent: I just can't be mean to her.

After that there's Joker, Legion, Garrus, and EDI, I pretty much don't care about the others.

Grunt boring, uninteresting, stupid. Wish I could teach him survival does not always entails violence.

Jacob again very boring, flat character, he could have had some sort of interaction with other party members to reduce the undeniable listlessness of his nondescript existence.

Zaeed, why is this guy on my ship anyway? So much for space cowboys; next time I will leave him to rot on his loyalty mission.

Jacob easily was the worst squad member in the game. All the other members could do the same thing better than him(and most of the time more) and although his personality was cool, there was nothing intriguing about him. Kaidan > Jacob. NPCwise, that would be Udina. Turian councilor is only a step above him just because he does "airquotes." Although, Illusive Man will probably a PITA in ME3.

Least favorite characters:

Samara - what is Marvel Comics doing in ME?
Jack - I just want to shoot her!
Grunt - I don't trust him, and he's not Wrex
