What's with the Zaeed hate?

He's easily the best character in ME2. Some of you paragon nancies didn't play his loyalty mission the proper way... Really. He's like human Wrex.

The worst character is Miranda, followed closely by Samara.

Jacob was really boring, Thane was too emo, and although I liked Jack her line in her loyalty mission "on one hand I'm a powerful *****, and on the other I'm a little girl" was just absolutely awful, and the way she says it was really annoying too.

Jack.

Thane was disappointing (overhyped religion during pre-release, expected him to be a badass zealot, and all he did was a prayer during his loyality mission), Samara fulfilled the religious fighter role just perfect.

Miranda, by far. Really annoying that she's arguably the best squadmate with all her disabling abilities and passive squad boosts.

After that, probably Jacob. I don't hate him, he's just boring and a waste of space in combat.

Heh, basically I can't stand the Cerberus people.

Since you asked specifically about Non-main characters I'd have to say the Turian Guard at the entrance to Zakera Ward. His constant apologizing made that loading sequence even more annoying. Sorry for the inconvenience indeed. ¬_¬

If we include main characters then Thane immediately comes to mind. Cliche character and easily the most boring/ cheesy loyalty mission of all the squad mates. Please let him die in the time between now and ME3.

Hated the turian on the prison ship. He held dangerous prisoners only if he got paid a lot of money to do so. His racketering methods angered me. I was happy to put a boatload of bullets into him.

Hated Morinth, Psycho girl that loves to hunt people down. Yeah...just..no.

Hated Harbinger. You kill him once and he just pops up with a fresh, nearby collector body. Damn you and your infinite control ability *shakes fist at him*

Zaeed was awesome.  How could anyone hate him?

Jacob was boring but I didn't hate him.  I was just a bit indifferent towards him (though his loyalty mission was pretty crazy).

I didn't much like Jack or Miranda.  Jack was just some crack head emo chick that thought she had it worse than everyone else.  Miranda was a Cerberus back up dancer who was basically a corporate tool.  Tali and Samara were the best female characters by a mile.  Why can't they make a decent human female?

I hate to say it but Grunt sucked too.

Thane was cool but not as cool as he should have been.

Mordin is the best hands down.

Samara and Thane, by a mile and a half.

Apparently, someone at Bioware thinks Blade Runner could be greatly improved by tossing in a cyberpunk-taliban and an outer space emo ninja.

Miranda and Tali are my least favorite characters. Honestly I wish there was an option to shoot Miranda in the face. As for Tali she is just plain BORING to me. The only reason I don't kill Tali off in the final mission is due to her being highly useful as a squadmate. However Miranda I keep unloyal and take her to the Reaper so she can die every time.

If I had to list the squadmates from ME1 and 2 in order of awesomeness it would be.........

17 Miranda (as said I hate her. Wish I could have shot her in the face)

16 Tali ME1 (Boring)

15 Tali ME2 (Less boring than before but still boring)

14 Kaidan (wimp)

13 Thane (As soon as he revealed he was already dying I found him useless and boring)

12 Ashley (Xenophobe and a bit of a racist. Basically a more tolerable version of Miranda)

11 Garrus ME1 (he was a tad boring in 1 and his love of always wanting to follow justice pissed me off endlessly)

10 Samara (same as ME1 Garrus except she is not as boring and being an Adept scored some points with me)

9 Jacob (boring character. However the reason he is the first character here I like are he joined Cerberus for a half-way decent reason, he not being a as hardline in Cerberus' goals as Miranda, and him being a vanguard is very helpful. As said first character listed I like)

8 Liara (hot, blue, hot, and an Adept. I admit her in ME2 is very disappointing and sorta pissed me off. However her reason for joining the Shadow Broker, and her much needed injection of some feeling of badassery are why I can forgive most of the stuff from her in ME2)

7 Mordin (Not the most effective squadmate in the Collector Base on the suicide mission. But he is the most essential part of the squad. Without his upgrades to the ship and him running the labs for us so as to counter the Collectors Shepard would have died again. Also his performing of Gilbert and Sullivan was awesome)

6. Jack (I love psychopaths. I hope she returns for ME3)

5. Grunt (A less awesome version of Wrex. Overall a great squadmate. )

4. Garrus ME2 (he was injected with a much much needed dose of badassery and made a lot less boring. He still sorta has a stupid need for justice. However him going about it now all vigilante instead of through C-Sec is great. Love the new Garrus a lot)

3 Zaeed (Great squadmate, has many interesting points in the game, his loyalty quest was by far the best, and his war stories and all around badassery make him great)

2. Legion (A Geth squadmate. Let me say that again a Geth squadmate. That alone shot him into the top 10. But his lines in the game are great and some of the interactions with other squadmates or NPCs is great. The simple fact he pisses of Tali just by being in the same room is also good enough for me. Please please Bioware bring him back as a usable character for ME3. Honestly he could be #1 on the list. He is sorta tied with that spot)

1 Wrex (The best squadmate IMO. His one liners, gruf badass attitude, and his combat skills were great. I was deeply saddened when I found out he was not usable in ME2. Please please bring him back as a squadmate in ME3. Also as said him and Legion could have there spots switched. There pretty much tied for #1)

Hmm, okay, so I didn't actually hate a single character. It was more indifference or annoyance than anything. But if I had to get rid of one character, it would be JACOB. Which was so unfortunate. When I first saw him, I immediately thought 'oh eye candy okay cool' what with that tight little outfit he was wearing *cough*

But turns out he's just another friggin Kaidan, who was just as safe, just as boring, and just as two-dimensional. I was like...the one human male you can actually romance and it's Kaidan all over again! I mean, I killed off Kaidan in ME1 FOR A REASON lol. The good boy soldier bit is just so blah. Not to mention, Jacob also replaced Kaidan in the absolutely-useless-biotic-teammate department. I pretty much never brought him on missions.

And is it just me or did anyone else find Thane's son completely annoying? I just wanted to slap him and shout, "Get over it!" Or...wait...I guess I did, sort of...

And Elias Kellum (or however you spell it). His character was written well b/c I hated this douche. Arrogant SOB.

As for Samara, I guess I can understand why people may not like her, but I found her to be the most interesting of the recruitables. First of all, she's the one character YOU CANNOT ROMANCE, which I found sublime. She's not like everyone else so eager to jump Shepard's bones; that alone held my respect. Secondly, she's like 650 years old--that has a lot of potential, not to mention that, if you're a Renegade and you keep her till the end, just imagine how interesting it could get in ME3 if she has to come after you because of The Code. I love characters that are deep like this. She's not easily impressed like Kelly, nor is she all whiny like Miranda and Jack. She is strongly set in her beliefs, which are 'just,' but it's all in black and white. She would kill someone in the name of justice, yet we may consider it very unjust. So, all of this in combination just spells fascination and intrigue for me. Not to mention the great VA.

*Shrugs* But to each his/her own, yes?

EDIT:  I just thought of one thing I hate about Samara:  her boobs.  Do they really have to be that big?  Good god.

Zaeed was awesome. Really brings the whole 'been there done that, young punks etc.' feel to the table.

Tali was annoying, I try to kill her every playthrough. Her mere existence is an insult to me.

The awesome thing about Tali'Snorah is how easy it is to kill her. Even if she's loyal.

It's the only awesome thing about this fetish object fanservice character, though. She won't be in any ME3 game I start...

After three play-throughs, I've decided that Mordin, Tali, Garrus and Thane are my favorites. Grunt is neat, but he's got maybe 1/3rd of Wrex's personality. That's not Steven Blum's (Grunt's VA) fault. He 'is' a tank-bred, after all. Perhaps his lack of personality is in-character rather than by BioWare's fault. Jacob is personable, but I didn't care for him at day's end, and I certainly didn't want him for a romance option. Zaeed is interesting up to a point, but I don't care for his 'my way or the highway' mentality. Still, Shepard puts him in his place, so we'll see if he returns for ME3. Jack is just a scared, damaged little girl hiding behind a wall of thorns. I'd like to think that after the emo-fest that was Pragia, that she'll get over her demons. I could take or leave her. As for Miranda, I could've done with a bit less whining about 'I'm perfect' and more 'Wait, Shepard seems to have the right idea, *cue backstories with TIM and Miri*'
