Title more or less sums up the question.

I've not had a single Paragon/Renegade option elude me for the entirety of the game thus far, but both choices in the trial at the end of Tali's loyalty mission are safely out of my reach. I've been saving her loyalty mission for last hoping I'd be able to accrue the necessary points, but I don't think I'll be able to fill up another quarter of the bar; I'm beginning to suspect it may be impossible on a single run through without grossly inflated bars from an imported Shepard.

Does anyone know exactly how many Paragon/Renegade points you need to open up these options?

Have you put 10 squad points into the passive Specialization skill and chosen the sub-skill that grants points into Paragon/Renegade conversation options? Typically the choice is between a lot more damage/health/etc or a little less and more "influence" concerning special conversation choices. I'm not sure how much is actually needed, but I always dump my first 10 squad points there and I've never been 'greyed' out of a special conversation choice.

For me the paragon/renegade debacle has been a disaster. I've had enough to convince Tali to give data regarding her fleet to a race of robots that basically destroyed her race, yet I can't tell Miranda and Jack to shut the f*ck up.

Choices seem relative to the level you are. At level 30 I had 95% paragon and there were heaps of choices I couldn't make, that I could make with my level 15 Shep with 80% para.

As far as the Tali thing goes, I think I managed to achieve paragon-ing the admiral board with about 80%, which shouldn't be too hard so long as you level up your class and get the 100% Para/Renegade bonus.

It is possible to get enough points to disarm the Tali/Legion fight. Besides taking every Paragon line and interrupt, I recommend speccing your guy so that his class skill is the one that increases you Paragon/ Renegade points.

If you have done that, then I don't know what to say. By the time I get to that confrontation, I am already at max Paragon. I think the class skill is really important so yeah. Take it from someone who takes all Paragon options all the time, it IS possible.

Both charm and intimidate options are possible, just pretty high up (at least 3/4s bar). Try wearing inferno armour or a death mask for the 10% negotiation bonus.

Failing that, if you saved both Veetor and Kal'Reegar you can get them to speak on Tali's behalf at the trial which will also prevent her exile. That is assuming you returned Veetor to the quarians and saved Reegar on Haestrom of course.

Tali's loyalty mission requires more than 75% of the paragon/renegade bar to open up heroic options. So does Samara's.

In Tali's case paragon/renegade is more critical because the heroic option is the only way to save her from exile.

^ Look under the "Defender" section as that's the easiest way to describe what you need.

Notice that when you put 1 squad point into 'Defender' as a Sentinel (every class has one of these talent trees) you get + 20% of Paragon/Renegade persausion? At rank 2 (2 points) you're up to +40%. When you reach Rank 4 (10 total points) you choose between 'Guardian' and 'Raider': choosing Raider will give you additional power damage but your Persuasion is only at +70% which is NOT enough to pass every persuasion check in the game. Choosing 'Guardian' will give you less firepower overall but your persuasion is now at +100% and thus you should be able to pass every Persuasion check in the game.

According to the wiki, you can also get her found not guilty if you returned Veetor to Tali and Kal'Reegar survived.

I didn't have any problems in my first game getting my score high enough, though I imported a character that had a good amount of bonus Paragon points.

This seems to be exactly the case. There's no real number or percentage you need.

Based on my own experience just today: If you do Zaeed's Loyalty Mission before anything else at the beginning of the game, you can save the workers and still convince him to be loyal. If you do his mission right before jumping through the relay at high 20's, you better be maxed out 100% Paragon or you can't convince him.

Minda and Jack, The Admiralty Board, Legion/Tali are all the same way- your options are based on your Para/Gade scores scaled to your level. (Although over 80% will open up almost all options in the game)

I'm a Raider already. I thought about respeccing into Guardian just for this mission, but if the requirement is up around 75% then it wouldn't make much of a difference. I've done most of the dialogue in the game by gut and ended up splitting the bars nearly an even 50/50. Another 30% wouldn't get me where I need to be.

Am I the only one who would rather have the morality options activated the same way they were in ME1 with learning kind diplomacy or badass threats

If Ka'l Reegar is alive and Veetor went with Tali before, and if you talk to people before going to Alarei then you don't need Paragon or Renegade points to pull through
