On the off chance that the troll was serious...

reasons:
           - Enemies are too strong and too numerous for your combat system
example: at the beginning of the game you find yourself in redcliffe castle up against a revenant and 5 corpses.. i mean it was introduced way too early in the game leaving the player to spend countless tries to defeat him and to that defeat his corpse accomplices in the process and you can only swing your weapon so fast. A solution for this is make the player at least defeat the enemy leader to win the engagement ( and still be able to collect experience for the remaining enemies)

You are very concerned with your skill choices making RP "sense", but kill the boss and the minions all go poof is fine?

You do realize that you do not need to do Redcliff first, right?  The bad guys level with your character, so saying that they are too powerful for your level is silly.  If you find them at a higher level, they are at a higher level.  Have your entire party focus on the primary bad guy first.  Swill health potions like candy.  Use those skills you are complaining about having put points in and not being useful.  Your rogue MUST have chosen some of those when you leveled him up.  Use them.  You will do more damage.  Fights won't take as long.  It's magic how that works.  Or, you could continue to do the exact same thing over and over and be amazed when it fails.  Having a fit of the screaming mimis at those who are attempting to make constructive suggestions and refusing to accept a single suggestion isn't likely to help either.

           - Combat system is poor
again, the enemies are too strong and too numerous, you should be able to swing your weapon freely (like in fable) or at least let  the player win the engagement for killing the alpha enemy, or at least make them easier to kill, another solution is a 5th party member to enev the fight since the enemy party can have 5 members

Your enemies are about as bright as bricks.  They are entirely predictable.  Combat is turn based and based on PC stats.  This is not Fable or Diablo.  Combat efficacy is dependent on your ability to build a character not your ability to click the mouse quickly.  You claim to want to be able to persuade your way through the game, but don't want to put any points in cunning.  Ummmm...you do know that the two are linked, right?  If you want to play a dex-based character, you need to put points in dex.  That is the way it works.  This game is reliant on your character's stats, not yours.  Rather, your cunning only matters in your ability to build a character.

        - Lack of auto saves
now this is one that is the biggest painin the ****, while the game does feature auto saves, however they are too few.. here are some examples of when the auto save should kick in:

                   - whenever you enter or leave a town
                   - before and after every random encounter
                   - after each quest is completed (this worked fine in Mass Effect, why mess with a good thing)
                   - after a boss has been defeated

the reason i complain about this is because a player who finally defeats a revenant and proceeds through redcliffe castle and defeats that kids uncle but gets ambushed and killed by the suits of armor will only end up having to go through the dungeon and spend another million tries to defeat that revenant

Or you could take the fraction of a second to save your own game.  This is the most ridiculous complaint you have made.  You can save it yourself at all of these points.

         - Lack of weapon variety
this one will make the game a bit better, adding some variety to the weapon selection, we need more than just daggers, long swords, great swords, and 3 kinds of bows and mage staves, how about adding some pole weapons such as javelins, spears, halberds, pikes or a morning star (you know, the spiked iron ball on the end of a chain) or even a lance, the list of midevil weapons can go on and on

More variety is always nice, but that wouldn't solve your problems.

Game is soloable on nightmare with all classes. Learn to play instead of whining on forums.

How would you solo that revenant and associates as a ,say, a level 9 fighter? Not saying it can't be done, but how you do it might not be obvious to everyone. I never looked into soloing myself.

there was one random encounter where you go up against like 20 darkspawn (along with 3 shrieks) fighting over a barricade against some elven archers. i had with me my PC (sword and board), Allistair (specced as a DW warrior), Sten and Leliana.

i just ran over to the horde of darkspawn and picked them off one-by-one and survived the encounter with everyone alive and at half health. it was awesome.

just further proof that while mages make life easier, they are not necessary to your survival. with the proper tactics and strategies, you can get through almost all encounters.

Revenants are optional until the Redcliffe castle, where you can use NPC help (the knights, if you managed to save them). In any case to anwer your question, full DEX warriors can kill revenants because Bio forgot to add diminishing returns on defense, making you invincible to melee damage. Of course at level 9 you won't be quite there yet, so make sure to have plenty of potions.

Well, when I said that revenant I was specifically referring to the Redcliffe one, as referenced upthread. Thanks for the tip. I haven't actually tried a dex-based character yet (still playing my first rogue). Now I guess I'll have to avoid pumping dex too much with her.

Don't worry too much about it. You become hard to hit around 110 defense, unhittable by normal stuff at ~140 defense, and unhittable by the real hard-hitters at close to 180 defense. Even then, a lot of abilities (like Massive Attack and Grab) hit you regardless.
