So I decided to bring my ME2 Engineer import over to Insanity, (This being my first Insanity run thus far.) I must say, this run is very challenging yet very rewarding. I spent roughly two hours or so doing the Grunt mission, using each attempt to help pinpoint the perfect cover for me and my Squad. So far I have been bringing Miranda and Garrus with me and they have been playing exceptionally well. The boss fight in the mission was slightly challenging but once I was able to find the proper cover, ended up becoming easy. Use the drone to disable each Korgan until their armor's stripped, then cryo + burst. Once the Krogans were destoryed, I positioned myself behind the crate, preventing the mech from flanking me only to wear it down with overload. Once they were done, the boss was fairly easy.

So far I think this class plays exceptionally well on Insanity, yet is completely underrated. You have to rely on positioning, squad combinations and strategies in order to succeed, whereas the Soldier and Infiltrator have slightly more leeway.

Does anyone care to share their Engineer experiences? :o

Never much of an Engineer person, but I can see how it would require more strategy than the other classes.

Do you use the pause option a lot? I just started an engineer play through last night (on hardcore), and while it's still way too early for me to conclude anything about play style, I did find myself pausing in most battles to select powers for both myself and my squad mates. Without pausing I would have been swarmed by mechs, and even on hardcore my shield is gone in a few hits.

My soldier - even at the start of the game - pretty much just blasted through everything, only occasionally using pause rather than the hotkey bar to select powers.

I did pick engineer for my second play through because I want to try a more tactical experience, but I am hoping I'll be able to do so with only sporadic use of the pause function, otherwise I suspect ME2 starts feeling a tad too much like a more traditional RPG, and I really like the combat being much closer to third person shooter mechanics (albeit with special powers).

I played Engineer on normal, and just finished my first playthrough. My strategy was to SET EVERYTHING ON FIRE ALL THE TIME AAAHHH and it worked out pretty well, for me.

Also, Bobo the Combat Drone was very useful. Those few seconds of distraction gave me time to recharge, change cover, or shoot. Don't underestimate your Drones! I'm not sure how useful good ol' Bobo's gonna be on Insantiy, but... we'll see.
