Sounds right to me, I beat the game at around 50+ hours, because I don't like to rush through my games.

I did my first play through in 40hrs give or take a few minutes. I didn't rush or sit there and mine every planet, I did all the side quests possible (I imported a character which adds a decent amount of content over the default ME2 shep), and I listened to all the voice acting instead of rushing through it.

My second play through paned out much shorter, 25 or so hours.

People play games at different speeds. It's not a contest. I doubt the G4 Xplay host lied or exaggerated.

My playthrough was a couple minutes just under 59 hours. I did all the side missions and made sure I got all possible items in those levels. My char reached lvl 30. If it wasn't a timed mission, yeah, I was taking my time to "smell the roses" as it were to admire the backgrounds. I also didn't skip dialogue. Sometimes I went back to listen again to some of the worlds to listen again to the ambient dialogue. I also spent a fair amount of time carefully mining minerals since I didn't know how much upgrades would cost. In the end, I barely put a dent in my minerals getting all the upgrades; having 60K+ Eezo and 250K plus other minerals. Also, I'm one of the PC users who has difficulty with the movies causing stuttering/lag while playing if not outright freezing so trying to watch something others see quickly takes me 10 - 20 min to get through; as such, I used the no-movies option to get through most of the game and be playable. All this said, any other playthroughs will run much shorter than my first one.

Anyway, it's not a contest on playtime. If you did it shorter than someone else, good on you. If you took longer that someone else, good on you, too. If you enjoyed the game, what does it matter?

Consoles are for average people with an average income. Some people can't afford, nor would want to have to upgrade their P.C every couple of months.

console is not much slower than the pc version, you might have an extra 5 minutes or so by the end of the game but not much more than that.

48 hours.

I have a 360 and a PC. I still bought the game for 360 because PC gamers are punks.

I clocked around 50 hours before i started a new playthrough. I like to stop and admire the scenery, most of my time is spent looking over the balcony on Illium or starring out the window of the Observation Deck.

But i suppose if you don't care about any of that then you can beat the main story in under 30-40 hours.

I seriously hope you bought DAO for the PC because it is the far superior platform for the game.

Different people play at different speeds.

My first playthrough on Normal difficulty, doing everything I could possibly find as well as listening to every conversation took me between 45 and 50 hours. My second playthrough on Insanity (NG+ to boot - I'm a masochist... - I happily finished just under an hour ago!) , where I skipped the majority of the N7 missions, barely scanned any planets and space-barred my way through all the conversation trees took me...between 45 and 50 hours.

I'm not surprised it could take 50 hours to complete the game esp if:

-- You listen to every line of dialog all the way through
-- You backtrack to find every single solitary piece of loot on every level
-- You don't mine efficiently [I didn't my first 2 times through]
-- You do every single mission, side quest, etc.
-- You visit every person after each mission to see if they have something new to say
-- You let the console run while you have dinner
-- etc....

I did all that. I also attempted to mine every planet to depleted status until I realised that I was never going to use my 200k+ resources. My first playthrough clocked in at around 45 hours.

First, virgin, unspoiled Playthrough (with no casualities I might add)

52 hours, 14 minutes.

How? No clue.
If Adam Sessler said that (who I respect a great deal) then it's likely he, like me probably did things like dive into the codex, and also, made sure to hear every last hint of dialogue possible in a single playthrough.

Just finished my Second game 5 minutes ago. 36 hours, but I did NO sidequest, other than loyalty missions., no exploration, and did not do all reasearch. I plan to get cracking on that now.

You know there is always the thoery that he, like me, does other things while playing. It's a lot easier to do in the PC version. Hell, ME2 is running right now as I type this.

One thing I noticed is that your timer keeps running if you're in the game menu (not the main menu). So if you pause for some length of time, that time's added to your total. So it's entirely possible to have inflated time that way.

(At least that appeared to be the case on the PC version of the game.)

Do we count loading times and resets? Probably my only problem with this game (PC version) is incredibly slow loading times. I've memorized those screens, and I am really missing the elevators, which at least had fun dialogue to fill it in. Combining that with resets when me or a squadmate gets killed as I adjust to the new combat, and I could see it.

I beat it on Veteran on the 360. Ended up level 27, did a fair amount of scanning for resources and anomalies, and did every missions (main or side) I had. I ended up doing it in about 35 hours, I think. It's possible, I'm sure, to take 45+ hours if you're a completionist and want to scan every planet.

Did he just walk around the ship for hours? My first play through took around 20 hours, same length as Assassin's Creed 2.

I didn't make this thread to doubt you 40-50 hour guys, I made it to find out how you did it :)

In ME1 I was floored by the atmospherics, and I enjoyed the /elevator/ rides and all the running about and listening to companion's commentary. I spent alot of time just enjoying the scenes. I tried to do this in ME2 but alot of the scenes have alot of badly done sprites that ruin it (Illium). Theres not much like the original Citiadel, maybe I'm a sucker for Cherry trees. That said... I did spend alot of time just looking around, but I never got close to 50 hours. I love the Mass effect world so I would like to get this much out of the game, so if there are any pointers on how to get that much fun out of the game I want it :D

If Sessler used a console for this play through, the length can be attributed to the disc swapping.

I don't know how people take so long. RP walking? Looking at literally everything? Needlessly mining every planet to depletion?

In my first playthrough I did pretty much everything except for most of the N7 missions and got about 40 hours, and I rushed through.

Maybe people just play through at different lengths.

I tend to play my games casually and take my time, absorbing every possible bit of the universe. :)

Do you not have much RAM or something? The loading screens on my game (PC version) are seldom longer than 5 seconds.
