I don't know how people take so long. RP walking? Looking at literally everything? Needlessly mining every planet to depletion?
Going through every single dialogue option with every single person and checking every single person on your ship after every single mission. Also, reading the Codex, never skipping any dialogue, and doing a lot of mineral scanning.

and the rest is recruiting, loyalty, and side missions.
funny though, i felt like i took my time and yet i capped at only 25 hours. clearly i missed a lot of material.

I was watching a video of G4's Xplay host and he said his playthrough of ME2 was 56 hours. I seem to have mised almost half the game? I capped out at level 30 infiltrator, made every star system 100% and had almost 90k resources in every catagory when I finished. What the heck was the G4 guy doing differently?
Such an exageration seems really unnessiscary .
My first playthrough took me 53 hours my second took me even longer 64 hours...what were you doing differently?

Some people enjoy the experience, I read the story of every planet, made sure to visit every planet, did every sidequest, mined a lot (not all mind you) planets, got every upgrade, talked to every NPC, party member, I could, read the codex, etc.
Also yes, sometimes I'd look at the scenary and just would say "wow".

I don't much like the whole "oh this game is 8 hours" complaint. The scope of a game is inversely related to the detail of a game, and gamers demands detail. So that's what you get.

Is that the save game file number for played hours? I don't think there is anything I could do differently except go AFK for an extra 15 hours.

I'm using the hours played number on the saved game file, is that what you guys are using?
I keep a stopwatch close by. I dunno but that just might be me.

G4 was playing with consoles. Consoles are for slow people....
By your comment I can assume PC's are for c**kbites.

Did he just walk around the ship for hours? My first play through took around 20 hours, same length as Assassin's Creed 2.
You didn't? I went everywhere, talking to people, listening to ambient conversations, getting drunk (if you drink the Mystery Drink on Illium, the bartender looks younger). Hell, I didn't even do a romance on my playthrough. Did literlly everything else though, including the DLC missions.

i clocked in at around 40 hrs on first play through, I don't think 56 is that much if it was first play through since when you first get the game you're basically clueless ( unless you decide to read the strat guide from cover to cover )
I clocked in 24hrs on my first playthrough. I wasn't anywhere near clueless. Is the game really that hard to pick up?

My first playthrough was 54 hours. It isn't that hard to do if you actually bother following every line of conversation with everyone you talk to and not just hitting 'X' to skip past it. *shrug*Hellebore5000 wrote...

Fleshing out every conversation adds a huge wealth of time... i finished my first playthrough in 46 hours (maybe 6 were bathroom and food breaks). Stuff like before and after tali's trial, almost every admiral, reager, veetor, and several others are non-essential conversations, but add depth to the games lore and each characters personality.

Its kinda sad that you can get the max level in this game on 1 playthrough though. In ME1 you needed 2 playthroughs to get the max level on max setting. Things seem kind of dumbed down on that level.

Listened to all dialogue.
Read all new codex entries.
Listened to every ad/news item on hub worlds.
Extract all dialogue out of every non-conversation NPC.
Read all planet descriptions.
Thoroughly search all areas.
Basically devour any and all info I could.

I'm been gaming for 20years I don't think it's hard for us to pick up on anything unless the game is so out there or it has horrible controls but not everyone has been gaming for that long.
how I got to 40+ hrs in general my first play through
scanning ( I had almost 200K spare resources on my first play through )
exploring diagloue option ( I ran through as much of the investigate option as I could on first play through, I rotated party members out to hear their various views on omega / citidel / that asari planet I can't spell )
back tracking on levels ( I tend to dive from cover to cover and sometimes I might miss a corner so I back track to see what I missed )
reading planets descriptions
trying to interact with <everything> ( yea I ran around clicking on anything that I could )
like I said playstyle matters, I like exploring and finding out random stuff
