First off the way they made you only have guns you use on mission with you and not 150, items like me1 witch theres no way you can carry them all. I guess they sort of wanted to do this with the ammo aswell? make it feel more realistic that is.
Its kind of silly watching thermal clips fly out of the dead, and having them scattered around everwhere. I would have like it if say, at the start of the mission, you were given, 1000 for the assult rifle and say 100 for the sniper, but you coulnt get more untill the mission was over or at lockers.
Then have or no thermal clips but the first games syster, and you would still have to worry about making shots count.. I think this would fit the lore a lot better, with the large bricks of ammo mentioned in the first. However I do support the ammo system in general I just think it couId be handled better. I understand people thinking it makes the game less of an rpg, but I dont share your concerns as that and the other gripes arent what defines it as an rpg for me.
How i would have liked the ammo.

Thermal clips should have been an optional way to instantly cooldown your weapon. Bioware tried to think of a reason why they are more convenient, but they really aren't. Why would I want to sacrifice unlimited ammo for a cooldown time that is slightly faster? I can understand for the sniper, because it overheated in 2 shots, but the rest of the weapons I don't get. In the next game they should be an optional weapon mod.

yeah, So on top of that you could fire after your out and jsut have to wait for the over heat wich could be slightly longer then ME1
