The most nerve wracking part of the game?

But she made it.

The final mission also had me on edge for the same reasons everyone has already mentioned. I was constantly worried I'd lose a squad mate.

At the end, when Garrus(in my squad) was rolling down the platform and Shepard missed his hand the first time, I nearly got up and was like "**** NO! GARRRUUUS!"
Same on the way out. I Just wanted everyone to escape.

My first nerve wracking part was when Garrus was wounded. Suddenly BioWare PR and advertising flashed through my mind. "People can die. Etc. Etc" I was thinking, "What did I do wrong?!"
Second, the ending, indeed. It was tense AND rewarding. Some of them upgrades for the Normandy really paid off... Felt good to see I had made the right choice. And choosing which squad member would do what at the end. I weighed up them folks very carefully.
Same, I seriously though Garrus was going to die during his recruitment mission

Was very tense. On the edge of my seat the whole time.

Sending my love Tali into the tube because I knew in my heart that was her moment to shine. Using Biotic Charge to rocket between valves with no concern for my physical safety. Elbow Punching Harbinger every time he got in my way.

Yeah, I eventually learned that having a pimp hand was better than a shotgun against Harby.

Works pretty darn well on Scions too. Keeps them from Shockwaving.

I love how Tali says "I won't let you down" when you choose her for the vent job. She's so great! And her old pal Garrus kept her alive as the fire team leader, too. Good times.
And how she says she knew she could count on you when you open the vents. Just perfect. Garrus was my Fire Team as well. The two I trusted most to have my back and get the job done. Just like when we took down Sarren.

Also, Tali's recruit mission has that ****-hits-the-fan-and-I've-got-no-ammo feel to it.

FYI: I think the person you choose second on your team is the one that [almost] falls if anyone wants to RP that specific option.
i tried this a few times and i'm pretty sure you're right. kind of comical seeing Shep pull Grunt back up with one hand.
I guess the heavy muscle upgrades paid off

Also the suicide mission was just as nerve racking as I didn't know what outcome killed who. I sent Mordin through the vents and I almost yell out "NOO!" when he got shot in the head by a rocket when trying to close the door. Everyone else made it out though.
Most emotional game ever! and in a good way.

I think the Derelict Reaper was also nerve wracking for me. Mainly due to the atmosphere. The holo-recordings from the team, the music, etc. just made me feel tense. Being on edge also kinda made me jump out of my seat when I heard the really loud moaning from the Husks.
On that note, I *HATE* Husks. Who decided that in this game they should moan like traditional zombies? I don't remember that from ME1, and I don't know whether to congratulate the designers for actually making them somewhat frightening or to kick them in the balls for getting some cheap scares out of me.

The suicide mission. Before you've read any guides or anything, and you don't know if each decision you make is going to result in someone dying or not. Lots of "character X ALMOST died" for me. Glad to make everyone out alive.
exactly, when Miranda (2nd team leader) got shot my heart, before revealing she was ok, skipped a beat

For as derivative as ME2's "combat fields" are, for as simplified as the shooting and RPG aspects are (though they do blend nicely), this game somehow really gets in my head.

I'm on my fourth playthrough now, but somehow... Every time that music really gets going and I'm shooting up Collectors, there's just that "oh God everything's gone to crap" feeling and it keeps me on my toes.

In my opinion it's because the pacing is so well-balanced. It just pulls you along, and before you know it you've been playing for an hour or three.

2. Collector Ship- Nerve racking to know those damn things are trailing you and you're busting your arse trying to get out. EDI's reports did little to reassure me, I was frequently mumbling 'open the damn door already EDI' as I pretty much ran the entire level
3. Suicide Run- I triple checked all ship upgrades, and went for broke on any weapon/personal upgrade I could think of. Really freaked when I chose Tali for vents, and kept hearing comn chatter of 'hurry up Shepard, I'm burning up in here' or something
I freakin' ran the entire level... mowing down anything that moved to get to the switches on time...
heart did some filp flops when it came to the door closing, the barrier, and the aftermath of the rubble....especially since I had Mordin on my sqaud

After that, I was immensely paranoid about every choice I was making and every second that the bad guys were keeping me from moving forward. I usually play a very defensive game; the suicide mission didn't just take me out of my comfort zone, it kneed me in the proverbial groin for good measure.
And here I am, ready to thank them for the experience. Crazy.
