Suicide mission on first playthrough, not knowing if you made the right decision or not. Then seeing people die because of it... not fun.

When Garrus got hit and dropped to the ground, I remembered how Bioware said you're team mates can die anytime. I thought I didn't protect him enough, then when I finished the section he started gargling ... 'Oh Sh** !!' I thought to myself and kept praying 'Please don't die, please don't die, please don't die'.

I tried to reload the game to prevent it, eventually I figured it part of his recruitment. I knew at that point Bioware really made me invest in this character. Also the suicide mission had me on edge all the way.

Suicide mission. Jacob died early after my brilliant plan to send him into the vents. After that, every moment when someone looked like they can possibly die was nerve wracking for me.

this deserves a big LOL @ sending Jacob into the vents.... haha

I dunno, my first run-through was on Insanity and everyone made it.. I even managed to get our "support staff" back... all of them.   I went straight there... I just finished Legion's loyalty mission and the next time I accessed the map, the sequence towards that mission began.

Maybe how I killed the reaper at the end on insanity... I charged over to a Harbinger killed it with mostly melee's and my pistol... it dropped some heavy ammo, there's the reaper hovering right over my spot.... screen is pretty red, I switched weapons as I activated my Geth Shield and went off with my heavy weapon... ftw.

Then just waiting for the achievements to pop up.... to see if everyone made it, etc... although I'm no achievement w****, I still earned them and wanted them.... they seemed to pop up in spurts.

But I had several moments where I just pulled it off with some amazing play involving my Charge move with slow-mo... not only does it feel great, I pulled some nasty moves off in style.

Great game, doing some more play throughs just to try different things before using my gaming time on other games, for the most part.  Hopefully ME2 is full of dlc and expansion packs.. at least more than ME1, including more frequently.   It will be nice so it stays fresh until ME3 gets an official release date and isn't too far off.

lol good thing you didn't have Jack in your party... I recruited her first on my newest play-through and she says "hope you didn't need him too much".... or something along those lines.   haha  Garrus is tough, I knew he'd be fine.

For me it was actually the bit with the MSV Estevanico - I got such a shock everytime the ship swayed.

Garrus' mission when he gets hit; also his loyalty mission. Very tense, very awesome. I got the same feeling with Morinth/Samara.

Suicide mission when Samara gets increasingly weakened from casting the shield. Terrified she'd die. Also when Miranda got shot in the stomach but she shrugged it off; I wasn't sure if it was for real or she was heroically hiding her wounds to die later.

Kelly dying in my first playthrough. It was... just horrifying. I was so devastated and confused that I ended up killing Tali and Mordin and leaving the base to TIM.

My first nerve wracking part was when Garrus was wounded. Suddenly BioWare PR and advertising flashed through my mind. "People can die. Etc. Etc" I was thinking, "What did I do wrong?!"

This. I was certain that I messed up because I wasn't fast enough to hit that renegade interrupt on the mechanic. Garrus being my favourite also added to the feeling.

the suicide mission when Garrus (who was leading my second squad) gets hit going through the door. i thought it was a fatal hit but he brushed it off. that single moment made me realize how invested i was in the characters.

This.

If Garrus had died in my playthrough I would have reloaded immediately.

First it was collector ship.

Then it was crew abduction - was expecting to go in with full power guns blazing, but ahd to rush to get crew back. Couldn't let Kelly die, or the funny engineering team.

Last was collector base. Met resistance and legion (who was suppose to hack the door) was telling me to hurry up, but dam collectors had me pinned down. Also did not want to lose a single member so was nervous all the time (did the loyalty, talked with them etc), but still was very nervous.

Suicide mission is one of the most nerve-wracking game moments for me ever. First playthrough Legion went through vents and Samara led the second team, I was appalled when Legion took a rocket to the face (Couldn't bring myself to send Tali, had to make sure she survived). Seeing Kelly and the other crew members being melted was also fairly disturbing.

Second playthrough I done my utmost to make sure everyone survived (still sent Legion through vents, poor guy). Everything went great up until the final cutscene, Miranda was killed while my squad was dealing with the baby Reaper (I didn't have enough Paragon/Renegade points and sided with Jack). Man, I love this game.

Mine would be during the suicide mission when you have to send your engineer through the vents you have to hit a couple with switches to prevent them from dying. You do this while getting shot at by Collectors.

I sent Tali through the vents and it was really tense when she kept on crying out to hurry up and then you see her health bar slowly going down while you have to fight you're way through loads of Collectors just to hit a freakin' switch.

Most of the time I ask my squad mates to cover me then I dash to the next switch while shooting down some baddies.

For me, it was EDI asking for control of the Normandy when the Collectors boarded. I shared Joker's worries about the consequences. The Collectors are here! Did EDI betray us? And now she's asking for unfettered access?

The most ominous line was her "I have control".

Tali sliding down the platform to her doom in launch Trailer made me very nervous.

So I was dreading the final mission and just when it all felt really good after I killed the reaper ... Tali slides! I nearly screamed some profanity out loud.

But with all crew being loyal, Shep caught her and the panic turned into the happy good feeling with all making it back safely. Priceless.

The final mission has been nerve wracking for me every time.
I don't want anyone to die, and i'm afraid they will event hough by now i know exactly what to do to make them live.
I think it's the music

Totally agree, the fact that some of the good/bad cut-scenes are so similar and the music rises at the vital points in both versions that it can leave you on edge of the seat wondering if somehow something is going to go wrong.

1. Suicide mission. All the "whoa, good thing we upgraded those shields or that coulda sucked" moments at the beginning really had me on the edge of my seat. I made sure to do everything I could to keep everyone alive but I still wasn't sure it would all work out.

2. Garrus sniping his teams traitor. This was nerve wracking for me a great deal in part because I wasn't sure that sniping him would be all that bad a choice. Heck, the dude was guilting so much over everything that it could have counted as a mercy kill. My first playthrough had me so tense and selecting choices based on my gut that I actually stood aside and let Garrus take the shot, even though I was trying for as Paragon a run as possible for a first time blind run.

3. To kill or reprogram the Geth heretics. Okay, see now I can sorta see how brainwashing the Geth could be the more Paragon choice out of a fairly no-win situation Paragon wise, but my first playthrough I went with mass murder as the better option. Not many games make me go with mass murder as the more palatable option.

The specific moment in the suicide mission that had me sweatin' was the Biotic shield part. I kept thinking, F*** TEAMMATES, MOVE FASTER FOR GRANDMA ASARI! She can't keep the damn thing up forever!!

My first suicide playthrough. Lost Jacob in the first part, and from then on it really hit me that all these characters I'd grown to love really, really, really could die at any moment.

I just about broke my keyboard with tension when Shepard missed Tali's hand as they slid off the platform and she sails over the edge. BIG sigh of relief when he catches her. Man, oh man.

Let's see.. I can recall four instances that were especially nerve-wracking:

Firstly when the collectors attack and boards the Normany and Joker has to try and save the day. Really creepy moment, that.

Secondly the suicide-mission, I was really tense there as I wanted to keep as many alive as possible and was worried that I'd fail or not have prepared enough...

Thirdly the instance where we boards the collector ship - as has been said, the whole thing does practically smell "trap"...

Fourth one would be the Abandoned mine mission. Places that have been abandoned like that for mysterious/unknown reasons (like two of the ships in ME1) have always striked me as rather creepy. And a message at the entrance that says "If you're reading this, get the hell outta this place!" certainly doesn't make me feel at ease...

This. Sooooo freaking this. I still can't decide whether I made the right choice. I ended up going with the brainwashing just because it's higher up on the dialogue wheel.
