Any chance of getting an option to respec squadmates?

I'd love the option to respec my squad, either through a new research project or having Retrain Powers also reset my squadmates skills.  My first playthrough had some messed up squad points since I was experimenting with all the new skills, etc.

Also, anyone else bugged that Miranda and Jacob both get one more point than the other squadmates?  It's a bit annoying being 1 point away from maxing out a third ability on my squadmates.

Definitely a good idea, though a bit less necessary once you get to second playthroughs and have a better sense of who you'd like to use.

by level 30 they can basically have all of their skills.. minus 2 ranks or so.. I fail to understand what respeccing would add. As well, you have 11 squad members? If you don't like how you built so-and-so.. take one of the other 10 out of the garage.

Well, it would definitely let me get rid of those Squad Ammo powers they have so they stop resetting my ammo type.

Yeah, after playing through a few times I've got a good sense of where to put points for my squad.  I just think being able to respec squadmates would give some more diversity in skills.  For example, a respec option would mean I'd be willing to max out AI hacking on Tali or Legion for the synthetic heavy levels and swap them back afterwards.  If I could respec I'd be more inclined to try out some unconventional builds / put points in skills that are considered underpowered to see if I could figure out a strategy that made them work.

It's not a huge deal, just a tiny little improvement that I'd love to see.  I'm just ADD about skills and builds and like to try everything out once, being able to do so without starting a NG+ would be awesome.

I would love a Prototype retraining option for your squad. Especially when your relatively new to the game and otherwise happy with a run and then boom... your stuck with a few bad choices made in haste or ignorance.

The benefit for a respec is for incase you accidentally picked the wrong max ability. For example, both Garrus and Miranda have area overload when I wanted them to have Heavy. :(

This would be great, considering I found Tali's Attack Drone fairly useless and wanted to try Explosive Drone.

At level 30 you can have 3 powers maxed and 1 power with 1 rank in it. That's a wide enough margin for you to regret your choices. There have been many times where I've wanted to respec.

Doesn't new game plus let you respec everything? Correct me if I'm mistaken.

yes it does, and it also locks out the loyalty skill. so you either have top tier basic skills or have to hold some points in reserve till loyalties are done. for example, with miranda i max out overload warp and her passive, ignoring slam. but with garrus, i max out overload, get concussive to 3 and agent to 2, and keep 10 points for squad ap ammo. its just annoying that you have to hold back those points, and that you can't experiment without reloading old files. for example, slam might be a very useful skill for miranda, but i don't know as i can't be bothered to reload and test it, which would involve at least a couple of missions.

That's what I thought, I don't think it's a big deal. Yes it would be nice but there's at least an option already, so it doesn't bother me.

Totally support this suggestion. I gave Garrus max Concussive Blast instead of Overload and I still regret it (CB is so useless on Insanity).

Bump for great justice. Not having this seems like some sort of design oversight.

I justed respec'ed 2 of my squad mates using gibbed's Save Editor (windows). The data to change is from the "Raw" tab in the program. Play around with a backup though. You have to do some basic maths when you change the ranks of each power and add/subtract the leftover skill points in the necessary place.

gibbed's Save Editor (Updated 2/10/10)

NOTE: This is an EARLY RELEASE and is NOT very user friendly yet.

SUMMARY:
Makes more stuff editable, not very user friendly but now you can play directly with the head morph data (and other data). Plot data is now editable.

Note: editing face code does not change the face, if you want a new face, either edit the head morph data under Squad > Player > Appearance > Head Morph, or import a head morph from another save the Toolbox tab.

CONTACT:
Check for updates and contact gibbed here.

OTHER
Okogawa has written a guide to using the editor here!

Not necessarily. Some squad members don't allow for you to get 3 maxed and 1 in a 4th skill.  It depends entirely on the order of their skills.  For example, I can't max Zaeed's Inferno Grenade, Passive, and Disruptor rounds because you have to get 2/4 Concussive shot to unlock Disruptor Ammo.
