I think my first actual cRPG was "Die Schicksalsklinge" (Blade of Destiny); it was pretty popular here, although I suppose not many played it outside of Germany. And I still kinda miss the days of hunting for herbs to cure you sick group members and having to replace your boots regularly when they wore out.
I later played mostly strategy games, so I missed the BG era, which is really a shame, because now when i try to play BG2 I can't really get into it.
AS for PnP, my first game was DSA Junior, which was supposed to introduce kids to the idea of RPGs and had you enter the stories of different books to prevent the antagonists from changing the storyline. Fun times

Zelda
But I don't really consider Zelda 1 an ÄRPG so:
Zelda 2 - NES
Y's the vanished omens - - Sega Master System
Miracle Warriors - Sega Master System
Phantasy Star 1 - Sega Master System
Can't remember which one was first though, all in the mid-late eighties.

Dungeon Master. I still have the original box and floppy discs in perfect condition. I remember going nuts trying to beat the stone monster at the end of Floor 3.

Die Schicksalsklinge was better known as Realms of Arkania in the english speaking world.
My first RPG was either Final Fantasy or Pool of Radiance. My first "MMO" was Shadow of Yserbius on The Sierra Network. Anyone remember that one??

Betrayal At Krondor here. That game blew me away and, in the bigger picture, really got me interested in computer gaming. Been gaming ever since that one.

Zelda on the NES
I think Zelda on the NES was the first major "RPG" to hit the mainstream market.. (Can't remember if FF1 was out first though, but i didn't play FF1 until AFTER I owned a Sega and SNES)

First real RPG I played through was FF7 honestly. Before owning a Playstation I can't remember playing through any RPGs.

One of the Final Fantasies when I was a kid, I hated it (still do hate JRPGs). The first good RPG I played was Oblivion.

Not entirely sure as I've played too many, xD. It'd be either Fallout 1 and 2, Morrowind, I think.

Ultima Underworld on the PC. I had a blazing 486SX (25MHz) with 4MB of RAM and 14 inch monitor. My CD drive was a 1X speed.

Ultima on the APPLE II-that was in 6th grade at school in Augsburg. I then started getting the old SSI Gold Box D&D and AD&D games. Started with Pools of Radiance, then went the entire series.
