my first rpg would be d&d of course. If you mean crpg I'd have to go with Bard's Tale 2. Only made it about halfway through that game before I got stuck. I was pretty young at the time. rpg's were hard for me back then. Seems like crpg's were hard in the 80's (never made it past Wastleand either- scorpitron in Vegas did me in). After BG2 things got easy until Dragon Age.

My first RPGs ever were Final Fantasy 4 and Zelda for SNES and my first PC RPG Ultima VII.
I always get a warm feeling thinking back at the days of Fallout, BG 1, Planescape Torment and other classics that really made me love the genre.

The first was The dark eye I think, a german RPG...
Second was betrayal at Krondor, which was a magnificent game.
Hooray for the old RPG's, they were great, storywise.

I don't really remember what my first RPG was. It was on the Sega Master System and I remember discovering a city of white dome-like buildings in a forest. I was probably too young to understand English back then, I had no idea what I was doing.
The first RPG I really played and somewhat understood was Ys: The Vanished Omen, also on the Master System. I liked it, but for some reason I didn't play any other RPG's until Fallout and Baldur's Gate were released.

The Legend of Zelda II: Adventures of Link.
Worst official Zelda title, mostly because it was an RPG. And after that, it was KotOR, I believe. It's hard to remember that far back...

Ultima I on the atari 800. Started with three friends, each of us telling the guy at the keyboard what to do with our namesake on the monitor. What little we knew. Still have an old printout of the codex of ultimate wisdom and walkthrough from that game.
Eventually Ultima IX took me seven years and three computers and a flying cheat to finish. The 'final' patch to Ultima IX seemed to break as many things as it fixed.

Inputing more than two words per line was hard to get use to with their games.

Secret of Monkey Island anyone?
Traditional RPG - Final Fantasy
I wonder if you would count Space Quest as an RPG.
Cause I remember playing that so much, trying to find how many ways I could kill Roger Wilco.

Mine was either Final Fantasy VI (It was the American Cartridge labeled as III), or Chrono Trigger. I am still very fond of both of them...
And suddenly I come to wonder what a TC mod of FFVI or CT would be like with DA:O.

Final Fantasy VI, I still consider it the best FF game out there...
For PC however I think it was either Baldurs Gate or Fallout, can't remeber which one I got first but they are both outstanding games!
