My first one was Might and Magic II. It's amazing how far these things have come in the past 20 years.
What was your first ever RPG?

Ultima: Exodus for the Nintendo.
I saw someone say Zelda... so not an RPG, it's an adventure game.

I'll never forget it, and I still play it sometimes. There's a short story behind it...so here it is.
I was about 8 or 9, had just got an NES and discovered Nintendo Power magazine. It just so happened they were having a special offer: order a 2 year subscription and you get Dragon Warrior for free. So I asked my parents if I could get it and they approved. A month later, my first issue arrives along with Dragon Warrior. I popped it in and instantly became a life-long RPG'er.
Now here I am, 20 years later and I still love everything RPG!

Twighlight 2000 In the early 90's. First computer RPg was probably Ultima IV. Or Gauntlet, the father of all action RPG:s!

HMM
I'm pretty sure.. it was Dragon Warrior: Monsters.
That is way more of an RPG than an adventure game. It even has a few dialogue trees. Sorta.

It started with a Star Trek RPG on mainframes decades ago (70's) , based on the current definition of RPGs. There you assumed the role of Capt. Kirk and used a glorified typewriter/printer to issue commands and receive results of your actions via printout, which I actually played at a Star Trek or Sci-Fi convention many, many years ago in San Diego.
I can also recall playing a D&D-styled RPG back in the days when I still had a Commodore C-64; pre XT computers.
Hmmm... I really gotta come up with a new online avatar

I think the first was Zelda. Or might & magic? I can't remember which is older.
Oh wait the first one was a text based RPG, but I can't remember its name... damn!! It is a one word title like zelda... and the graphics were barely there (something like 4 lines for a wall, and a circle for a barrel lol), everything in the world was described in text.
Another old RPG I liked a lot was Rage of Mage, and the first Diablo ate a good portion of my life. Diablo 2 much later.

Might & Magic IV - played it for a bit, hated it and never touched an RPG again for the next couple of years.
Until - in late 2000 - I somehow stumbled upon this game called "Baldur's Gate 2".
And from that day on I loved the genre like no other...

My first one was on the NES, original Final Fantasy. First CRPG's were Realms of Arkania, and Castle of the Winds.

Oubliette. C-64, early 80's, line drawn dungeons. Took 30 minutes to load on a tape drive. Never finished. Don't even know if it had an end. More like an endless dungeon, I think.
First one finished. Bards Tale on C-64. I had a slow disk drive by this point.
I will always remember Mangars tower. Trying to map while banging into walls in the dark and hitting teleporters...
Gamers have it so easy today with automapping.

Dungeons & Dragons and I think it were around 1989 (pen & paper version). In Amiga there were some hmm.. like Bard's Tale and Ultima and so on in mid -80's.
