Baldur's Gate II, still the greatest game ever. But if you start with the best, everything after is a bit of an anti-climax.

The pools of radiance on my amstrad 464......and I'm off to buy a flat cap and a whippet due to the sudden sense of age overcoming me.

Fell in
with D&D ever since.

Well, I wouldn't consider Zelda on NES really a RPG... My first RPG was Dragon Warrior on NES.
Thy journey is over. Take now a long, long rest. Hahahaha... ;p

Final Fantasy VII when I was seven. I didn't get into RPGs, though, until I was thirteen and played Kotor. Then I went back and played all of the old RPGs that I missed.

PnP or Computer game?
I'll be showing my age here, but D&D blue box set was my first RPG. I still have all my Dice from my D&D/AD&D days.

Inherit The Earth: Quest for the Orb, published by (surprise surprise) Lucasarts. It was more of a linear interactive story than an RPG, where you played a talking fox and his companions on a quest to, well, get back a stolen orb. It might seem kiddish and limiting for some, but the world of the anthromorphs was really fascinating. Too bad they never made a sequel or brought it forward to this day and age: I think the results would be amazing.

PnP started with D&D's basic set, but I'm not sure what edition I think 8th maybe in 1981.
Computer was SSI's Phantasie in 1986 for the C64.

I think mine was Diablo, followed later by Baldur's Gate. Both a nice start for my RPG gaming.

Mine was Dark Sun : Shattered Lands in 1993 from Strategic Simulations (the publisher of the original online Neverwinter Nights, the first graphical online rpg).
Then after a big hiatus, Baldur's Gate I, which was my first original game box purchased in a store.

My thoughts go so back in time, that I recall King's Quest.
