'98 is real old? Bwahahahaha it was 1978 when I first played Zork on a mainframe.
It was before CRT monitors, everything printed out on a dot matrix line printer .
I think that was before it had been named Zork, it was just "Dungeon Hack" or "Adventure"

Mine was probably Diablo... you can't really expect much from a 5 or 6 years old kid playing that game. I was scared by that time to tell the truth

Can't remember if I've replied to this or not, but my first was either NVN or Morrowind (whichever came first).

I'm a relative newcomer to the RPG scene so I find my education somewhat lacking in comparison to some of you old RPG-heads.

Ok, it appears I was 6 at the time.

Hah, not just kids. I played online with a gal around my age and she had to turn off the "music" in the cave levels because it freaked her out. I love the ambience in that game; some of the best ever.

And I forgot about Zork; so it was probably my first. I was never very big on text games though, and quickly moved to games with graphics once I got my own computer.

Final Fantasy I. Though it does not really count since it's the psp remake version. It would be Final Fantasy X then. I think it was in 2001. I was just 10-11 years at that time

I'm finding it hard to remember what I played first. It was either Final Fantasy or Phantasy Star. It was around 88 or 89 so I was 6-7 at the time.

In CRPG, I started later than some. My first owned copy was the Gold Box D&D: Secret of the Silver Blades. I played for nearly 11 hrs before I realized it; started shaking at the thought.
