This one called Snatcher.It's not... really an RPG, but I think that was the first dialogue oriented game I played. It was a bit scary for me, but it was a good story.

CRPG - Eye of the Beholder 3: Attack on Myth Drannor (or something like that), played it as a kid at friends house and was really amazed.

RPG - Hero Quest, board game with miniatures.

Ah yes, I too owned Hero Quest and bought all the add-ons too. That is my favorite board game from my youth. I used to create all new  adventures and play as DM with my friends. It was a blast!  I owened all the EOTB as well!

Wizadry on PC, floppy disk, 64 kb max. program size, in beautiful B&W, where walking down the hall was moving the cursor one square at a time, and the walls on the right and left were stick drawings of parallelograms (to give the rectangular a 3-D perspective, diminishing in height in the distance)!!
It was far better than the text-based adventures (" you are now in a cave, to the right is ....").

Ah...RPG's....my first was actually Final Fantasy 7.....absolutely great game and has remained my favorite RPG for about 10 years

I don´t remember on my first RPG, but I mean it´s was Dungeon Master, Crystals of Arborea or Bards Tale. Maybe some on ZX Spectrum.

Final Fantasy IX for me and I still love it to this day. But the game that really made me into an rpg junkie was golden sun which i also still love and cant wait for the ds game to be released.

Wow, at first, I thought NWN, but reading this thread I started playing them way before that. First, Chronotrigger (never finished it though), then Betrayal in Antara (forgot about that one, wow. never finished that either). XCOM!! Amazing game. Not really an RPG, but still. I played a MUD for quite some time, as well.

Either FF7 or BG2, can't remember which. Rented them at the same time, played a bit of each, then went out and bought both. Since then have been a RPG junkie.

The game was called Realmz (if I remember the name correctly) and was one of the reasons why I bougth Baldur's Gate.

First edition D&D in middle school. For some reason I remember we had this weird tactic of throwing chickens in a room before entering, the idea being if we heard a scuffle we knew there was a monster inside. Nobody stopped to imagine what a group of adventurers carrying a bunch of chickens would look (or sound) like.
