It's even more "bad-a" if you're one yourself.
Eh yeah but if you're a warrior, I would like a bad-a blood mage right next to me

No. Horrible idea.
A personal vendetta I see, is this about Jowan, or about me, why don't you just let it go and move on. Me and Gaider has. If this is what its really about, you're reading more than what it was, into this

I think Jowan would have had serious potential as a recruitable character in your party. I'm a blood mage myself, and I know I'm 110% valuable to my party. Having two blood mages would make the blight turn tail and run screaming for the hills, especially after I specced Jowan to his full potential. I always liked Jowan anyway. He was never a bad guy, just someone who was screwed by circumstances. I would love if there was an expansion in the future that allowed you to rile against the chantry to free the mages from imprisonment and subjugation. It would be especially satisfying to get to kill Gregoir and/or Cullen...
Yeah excatly, this characters attuide/and his powerful magic, really balances out this character, a character who isn't a total jerk with his powers, but at the same time can be really dangerous if he wanted to be. Like a whip who can back up his word, I like how unexpected this character can be. If you don't kill him, I felt his role was uncomplete. Like you were expecting to see him again. Seems like a waste of a powerful character, whose sitution/being gave him uncanny depth. And in a sense, hes a good guy, and who doesn't like routing for the good guy, hoping it turns out well for him

Same here.
A lot of people complain that he's whiny, but strangely enough, those same people seem to like Alistair, the undisputed king of whine. (Seriously, if I had a dime for every time he teared up about Duncan... oh well, I like Alistair anyway.) At least Jowan had the courage to stand up and defy the powers that be for what he wanted. The first terrible thing he did he did to protect the woman he loved, and to tell you the truth, I didn't blame him. I wish it had been an option to help him knock Gregoir and his templar subordinates on their tin-plated hineys. And when the crap hit the fan at Arl Eoman's place he was ready to stand tall and make things right, despite having just been tortured and knowing what the guards and the Circle might do to him. Whiny or not, that takes balls. On my second play-through I made him leave the castle, though. I didn't want him turned in to the Circle to be killed or made tranquil.
Of all the other NPCs I've met in my travels, Jowan had the most potential to be a bad-ass party member. And I wouldn't have to put up with Morrigan's obnoxious attitude or Granny-do-good's (aka Wynne) preachy judgemental ways in order to have mages in my party. (Don't get me wrong, I like Morrigan. Wynne, not so much.) I hope there's an option to have him as a party member in the future.
Or better yet, recruit him as a Warden. Now THAT would be seriously cool.

I would love to have Jowan as a companion; he is an interesting character and would be a great asset combat wise. However I don't think we'll see him in Awakening since we already have two mages but maybe the next game/expansion.

"Great asset combat wise?":pinched:
Have you tried using him in the Fade?Oh dear...he's a debacle...his combat abilities match his ability to speak without whining.

He was originally recruitable by using the rite of conscription to recruit him. Got the dev post linked in my group...
