I have called the 4MY-XBOX number 3 times and each time they are always confused with my problem.
I
got a brand new xbox 360 elite for Christmas and it plays games fine.
The problem is I cannot install any game to my harddrive. After I
install it and start it up it freezes on the game's loading screen. It
happened with 5 different games. Also I can't play demos. I download
them and they begin to start but also freeze at the loading screen.
Same goes for some DLC, though not all. I downloaded Dragon Age's DLC
and it played ok and then I downloaded Saint Row 2, Mass Effect 1, the
new armor on Mass Effect 2, and none of those work. I even deleated
them and downloaded them again and it didn't change anything. Also I
bought Fallout 3 game of the year edition and I installed the second
disk and them put in the first disk to try and play it and while is
says something like "loading additional content" it freezes after 5
minutes of loading and says "disk is unreadable"..and that's a brand
new game. I can't watch netflix or video trailers I download. I mean
it downloads fine it's not a LIVE issue but I think there is something
going on when the xbox tries to read the content on my harddrive.
I
have looked around the internet for people with similar issues but I
have found none. They are willing to replace my harddrive with a new
one but that would mean losing all my saved content from my games,
which my xbox so happens to be able to read. Anyone have any
suggestions? I would go to a friends to check if it is my xbox or
harddrive but no one I know has a 360. I might try gamestop or
something like that to see if they are willing to put my harddrive in
and see if they can "diagnose" the problem.
It sounds like you're system is very close to getting the three red rings. Here are some things you should know for when that does happen. First, you're going to have to call India the number you listed what they are going to then try to do is try to get you to print up your repair ticket because like they outsourced their call center to India to save money they don't want to send you a ticket.
Second, you will have to buy your own box and packing, Xbox since the Summer of 2009 has stopped sending Coffin boxes and packing for their own mistake (Defective System). You can try and argue and ask to have your case escalated however there is no telling what will happen since Microsoft is an American Company trying to screw their customers every way they can.
Once you get your console back, and attach you're HDD back any content you downloaded will no longer work even when redownloaded. For example let's say you bought Mass Effect 1 DLC you will have to be logged in ONLINE to use saved files that used the DLC or to use the DLC in general. Microsoft is committed in protecting its developers (EA, Bioware) assets so your DLC you bought have DRM on them and it will not be sync'd your HDD but your console.
So then you will have to call India and hope they understand what you are saying and trying to get your content sync'd to your new console.. However even if they understand you, they will give you a hard time and most likely this will not be done as quickly.
If this is frustrating, then I know how you feel. I like others bought a PS3 after going through this mess the past summer and I never been happier. The console works great, the online function is amazing and I don't have to pay to go online. Plus I can play my PS3 anywhere on my PSP I have an internet connection. My bluetooth for my phone works for my PS3 as with my keyboard. Blue Ray is a plus and actually buying things in Dollars instead of MS points I dont wonder whats what.
Oh your warrenty with your console has been changed once it dies the first time so India will have to explain that too you. Cut your loses and get a PS3 seriously, all my 360s have failed on me, everyone here will blame you but most places are reporting 360 failure rates are well above 50% so you're 360 will die quickly compared to every other console you might have ever owned. Think of the 360 as an eMachine. Cheap parts, quickly put together but oh wow it has an AMD processor!
