Yes, yes I know it's not recommended, but for future use, where are we to go to get the patches?
Thanks,

The below message is from anotehr thread. I launch button problem after patch but got it to work again after applying the patch
The main issue that people seem to be having is that the patch is built with a newer version of a Microsoft library than what DAO originally installs. You can find the latest version here, the x86 version.

Bah - this points to a 2005 service pack 1 issue, not convinced..

The patch linked to above is from this site. I'm pretty sure it's legit.jdtope wrote...
Above links point to security issues and basically, a bunch of BS. This game was released 3 days ago. Even though we ALL LOVE patches, my honest opinion is that there is no official Bioware patch, we are all being suckers, myself especially since I have had to install and reinstall 3 times costing me 7 hours on my only day off this month... There is NO PATCH..Yet.. DO NOT PATCH THIS GAME NOW

Exactly what I did. Installed game, played for a few hours, patched to 1.01a, play button failed to work, dled x64 version of the Microsoft link posted in this forum, tried game but play button still failed, dled x86 version of file, play button worked.

if you have a 64bit-OS you MUST use the x64 version patch
Evidence? I will call that wrong based on empirical testing.

Well. Have fun not playing the game while the rest of us head back to our quests.

DO NOT TRY TO PATCH. Any downloadable patches are hackers #*&%(*# BS Mother FU&*^(&*#^%(&# attempts to infiltrate your operating system.
Calm down, the game patch is legit, it's just that they forgot a dependancy and then didn't test it properly (it's like fallout 3 all over again).
I do think it's a bit odd that we don't have an easy 'update' function in the launcher like NWN had.

I installed the c+++ fix that was linked, the x86 version.
I reinstalled the game, logged in and redownloaded the DLC (I couldn't start my saved game without it, it required those for some reason even though I didn't do the quests yet).
I then installed the patch from this download (Bioware's link, not steam or gamespot or whatever): http://social.biowar...ame_patches.php
All is working for me now. Sigh...hope that helps others. No idea if the x86 file was needed, but I tried it anyway.
