Does anyone know if ill be able make a ghoslty or smokey look to my characters. Maybe see through or a smoke or mist emanating off of them

There are fx that will do this for you. Easy to add in a cutscene, outside of a cutscene you probably have to script the effect I would guess.

Isn't there a way to have fx attached to creatures, in a similar way that fire is attached to a sword for example?

Yup, in a cutscene you open the properties of the fx once you place it down and assign it to an actor. But for just normal playing in game I'm not sure if you cna plop down a vfx and assign it to an npc.

I think you probably can somehow. It's essential in most RPGs.
