I know the right choices narrow down to only Jacob, Garrus and herself. But since Miranda volunteers to lead the 2nd team, her reactions to any choice other than herself range from cold to mildy pissed. Based on a few playthroughs, it seems that she has unique lines for whoever you choose.

Choose Samara: "Disciplined and skilled. Wise choice"   (turns out to be anything but)
Choose Jacob: "Good luck Taylor. Let's see if you are ready for command." (condescending attitude)
Choose Garrus: *shrugs" "Well, at least he knows what he's doing." (what's wrong with her?)

What does she say when you pick squad members other than these?

If you choose jack as the fire team
leader, she'll /facepalm and say "Oh you've got to be kidding me" Then
I told her to shut the hell up,and fall in line, this is my ship
damnit!
Turns out she was right though, because my tech guy ate a rocket later on, poor thane

For Thane she says "well, at least we'll be stealthy". I always choose Jacob anyway.

Lol. I would love to try that if not for 10 min of unskippable cutscenes prior to that and also certain death for the vent guy.

Apparently on the suicide mission Miranda decides that she really should be in charge of the whole mission after all, trying to make decisions about every team based task.

Oddly, her comment about needing a techie is taken as gospel and irrefutable evidence that it's obvious you need to choose Legion/Tali for the vent task, but her other contributions can be debated. :)

Exactly. Look at her views about choosing Samara and Garrus, and then the ironic end results. When she later (regading a biotic barrier to shield the swarm) says "in theory, any biotic can do it", she is wrong again.

I chuckled when i recalled that, early in the game she says something to the effect of "I am only human (although my looks and butt are genetically engineered to be perfect). I make mistakes like everyone else and when I do, sometimes people die."

Thane would have probably died anyway.  He's not really a tech.

Well... even if you hadn't have picked Jack he would have ate a rocket :P

Thane is a combat/biotic, not techie ;)

She is your second-in-command.  Not one for military courtesy, though.

Even with the vent task, it's only when the mission starts that the squadmate you chose confirms that there's no armed opposition to their progress (something you don't know prior to the mission).

Yeah, Miranda clearly makes mistakes. Though obviously she's to be completely trusted when you have the benefit of hindsight to know when she's right. :)

Bah, in name only. I'll take my tactical advice from Garrus. Or at least I would if he wasn't "working on some calibrations" all the time.

Hmm I don't know about you but on my playthroughs all of my team has been loyal and I have selected Garrus once for both positions of Fire Team Leader and no one has died at all.

Garrus is actually a really good team leader, he just had doubt after Sidonus, but completing that arc seemed to quell that uncertainty.

To expand upon this (not sure if it's all relevant) but in ME1 I pushed him towards reapplying to the Spectres as opposed to trying his luck again with C-Sec. Heh, I wonder how his dad viewed his vigilantism on Omega?

You misunderstood. What i meant was how little confidence she has in Garrus (not doubting but not confident either) compared to Samara but the end results proved otherwise. The game decides Garrus is the best leader. As fire team leader, his team encounters no delay and as distraction team leader, he did not radio for help even once. The fact that he got so pissed off (nearly went over the edge) when his team members were killed off suggested that people dying under him was a rarity (and when it happened, it was only due to subterfuge).

this was a good thread, we really should start compiling all of the character reactions in these decisions, not to see their effects but what they say.

There is only so many times I'm willing to replay these scenes.

LOL @ her Samara and Garrus reactions

I can't help but feel the dialogue/story team was told Zaeed would work as fire team leader, but the coding team didn't. From a story perspective, Zaeed should do fine, he's led men into combat plenty of times. I stayed away from him, though, because I was like "I dunno how well DLC guy is implemented!"

Many of Zaeed's stories end with him saying "and I'm the only one who survived!"

He may be a good mercenary, but he's not a good leader.

I wonder what Miranda says if you choose Legion to be the fire team leader.

Zaeed wasn't able to command the loyalty of the Blue Suns and I think a few of his previous missions end with the death of his men.
