Zaeed, of course, never CARED about keeping his teams alive - he'll throw as many underlings into the fire as it takes, to get what he wants. :7

I picked Garrus as well, his description is about his team based Guerrilla war expertise. I can't imagine a better captain to lead a small group of people through an enemy spaceship. I chose Miranda for the second set because she was getting whiny and I figured she could probably keep people alive by blocking shots with her ass. Worked out okay, no one died except zaheed who had to guard chakwass(sp?) and somehow botched that up.

She's just pissed cause she's not in charge. and thank god she isn't, NO ONE would be loyal to her and everyone would die.

Except that if you pick her as fire team leader and she's loyal, she turns out to be competent... if you didn't pick badly for your tech/biotic specialist she brings all of her team through alive.  She frankly doesn't strike me as being pissed at not being in charge, she even admits to Shepard that she doesn't have the ability to inspire loyalty like he/she does.  She's just doing her job as 2IC, and that includes feedback and asking 'are you sure' before carrying out the order.

i found it kind of obnoxious how she randomly joins you up on that raised platform when you're giving the speech to your team right before you fight the human-reaper. i was like "what. go back down and join the rest of the team, woman." but she just stood there and acted like she was important

oh well. nice gal anyway

Miranda always struck me as a terrific administrator, and probably a very adept force commander, but an absolutely awful small team leader, given her complete inability to inspire loyalty. She'd be great poring over maps and determining the best troop deployments, but not exactly someone I'd want to follow into a hail of machine-gun fire. Which is why Garrus will always lead my teams.

Even though IM sure someone will point out that the place was taken over by mechs,<not her fault though thier was a mole in the place> the fact that Shepard is alive is prove to Miranda leadership skills as she lead that place for the last two years.

I know that if you choose Moirdan<cant remember how its speeled at 3:30 in the moring sorry> she says something like not my first choice.

And also just to point out her Garrus comment i believe its mostly about the fact that its said as yes made the right choice if not her but her and Garrus just dont trust each other, if jacks dead Garrus is the one to speak up and rather upsetly points that out why she shouldnt lead. personally i like letting them both lead a team keeps them both happy in my mind.

As for her biotic comment I like it as in theroy any biotic could do it but i feel thiers a hint in her voice that shes not sure she could if you were to ask her to do it, though she never say that

Zaeed should be a reasonably good leader. He did star the Blue Sun. If he was a bad leader then no mercenary would follow him.

Remember that Zaeed was a DLC character added after-the-fact. Like the upcoming Kasumi, the mission was probably not designed with him in mind. That's why some of the reactions to him and dialog was borrowed from other characters. They probably did not want to give the player more "right" options when they added new characters. The tricky part of the mission is the red herrings, debate, and few workable options for each situation (even though I think they make it glaringly apparent who is a good choice for each).

It would have been a bit of Deus Ex Machina if suddenly Zaeed was there and good at everything.

Not good at everything but certainly good at leading the team trough.

It bugs me that his dialog makes it seems that he has it all right, he is at the point before schedule and not even once complains about the enemy presence.

I wish someone could mod him into being good at the suicide mission as fire team leader

Would be nice, doubly frustrating that Kasumi can go through the vents.  But, overall, I think more time was put into the Kasumi DLC than Zaeed's.

I knew all of those, but I forgot.

.

And overall she's a great XO. If you care to read the email about the new weapons that you can buy as DLC, you will see that most were brought to the Normady by Miranda's initiative.

Miranda is a perfectionist, and the Suicide Mission offers no second chances. She is critical because that's what she's there to do, help make sure the job gets done.

Garrus is always my option for fire team leader. He might as well be my second in command anyway.

Zaeed talks several times about him being the only survivor from a team in a mission.

That is why he is not a good leader.

If you choose Kasumi, Miri says something along the lines of "we are trying to break a door not a break into a vault".

Would like to see in ME3 the choice on who to male your XO. It would require a lot more effort on Bioware's part, but I would rejoice to no end if I was able to make Garrus be my XO.

Ouch. She made herself about 80 million mortal enemies (i.e. Tali fans) with that line.

Putting her on the fire team with Jack in command would be hilarious. I wonder if Jack could resist the temptation to order her to charge at Harbinger by herself, and if Miranda would refuse to obey.

That would be so damn awesome, I was so dissapointed/enraged when meetings happened on my normandy and it was always Miranda and Jacob... I mean this is MY ship its MY mission I get to choose MY second in command and that is Garrus.

But then again seeing how the colector ship blows up after you get the Thanix Cannons... maybe those calibrations were REALLY important

Zaeed is an Alliance veteran and a battle-scarred mercenary, but that doesn't necessarily mean he'd be a good team leader. Having combat experience doesn't necessarily translate into leadership ability.

In fact his history suggests that he wouldn't be a good leader, since he failed to inspire loyalty in the organization he helped found, and was overthrown by an underling. As noted by earlier in this thread, a lot of his stories also end with him being the only one to make it out alive. Even the brief character description you are given for him when you make your choices on team leader, notes that he failed to inspire loyalty while in the Blue Suns. His character description practically screams, "DON"T PICK ME." Zaeed is much better off following orders instead of giving them.

Tbh you can choose Jacob for vents and Jack as the leader and still get the job done. Sure Jacob would die, but job was done and you get to proceed with the mission. You can't really say that anyone is a bad choice. Not the best choice sure, but not bad either. Bad choice would result in half of your team dying and you ending up stranded on the base, unable to destroy/buzz it.

As alot of others have stated.  Zaeed is a pretty bad leader.  Just because you start something up doesnt mean you have what it takes to finish it.  He is a survivor not a leader.  Look at what he did during his DLC mission & his statements "I was the only one who came out alive" should be a good indication that he lacks leadership abilities.

Tali did get both of her squads killed. If Tali fans can't see that, then they're completely blind.
