Hey, I figure'd I post this here just incase there's a remote chance anyone was slightly interested.

I've been recording one of my newest playthroughs with fraps.. from start to end.. so a buddy of mine who likes the Mass Effect story but doesn't want to play the game can see it (he doensn't like playing anything shooter related since he feels he's awful at it... but he loved the ME1 storyline and characters when he watched me play).

Anyhow, it's basically a recording from start to end (I'm still playign this character and uploading a couple vids each day).... I talk to all NPCs and generally don't skip anything.

The recording won't have any scanning or non story / character related sidequests in it... some combat will be included but I'll cut some of it if it's not overly relevant to the current quest / story.

The character is my ME1 level 60 imported female Shepard (paragon). So if for whatever reason you feel like watching the main story / gameplay of ME2, feel free to watch. :) It's being made really just for my buddy but anyone is welcome to watch it.

Here is the link to part 1: www.youtube.com/watch

I also uploaded the final 15 minutes of Mass Effect 1 as played with this same character so my friend could see the end of that game too (he saw most of ME1). The video quality in this one isn't too great though, but here it is if you want to see what choices I made at the end for my ME2 import: www.youtube.com/watch

Thinks makes me think...

It would be nice, I think, if BioWare would allow us to re-watch/visit all the cut-scenes from our characters in our play-through, you know, like a movie of our game basically, perhaps even with the option to turn the dialog in certain cut-scenes On or Off to make it look like more of a movie than a game, I think it would be nice.

Heh, that's kind of a nice idea Lyrandori. I for one have tons and tons of save files at countless points throughout the game... I often like to reload very specific parts of the game just to go through a certain event or dialogue in ME2.

I guess if I record everything though it'll be a bit easier that way heh.

I already stated somewhere ( on Bio Ware forums, but dunno where ) that this kind of saga, with so much detailed world, races, story and stuff should have a movie adaptation. Most of projects like this ( game to movie ) aren't too good, because they lack a good plot, story and relations between the world and characters. ME is the one that may break it. I am already playing ME 2 for third time, just to uncover the story once again, and once I know most choice consequences.

Tykfa, my only problem with a movie adaptation is that they cannot suitably do the Mass Effect story justice in a typical 2 hour long film.. or even 3 hour long film (which are very rare). They'd have to either remove a lot of the characters or develop them so poorly that they come across as empty, meaningless carboard cutouts in the film.

Part of what makes video games better than film at telling stories (when done right) is that they aren't confined to the 2 hour limit to tell their whole story the way a film is. This is also why you seldom see many successful novel-to-movie conversions either.... You have to chop too much of the story or characters from a game or novel to fit it into a brief 2 hours.

For this reason, I wouldn't want to see a Mass Effect film... it could never stand close to the quality of story telling done in ME1 or ME2, and would only taint a series that is very dear to me.
