My question is just like in the topic, Ive heard from unconfirmed sources that it is possible to finish the final mission with all squad mates dead but with getting Shepard out alive. Im quite interested on how to do it since getting no one alive or getting all out in one piece is fairly simple and there are many guides on how to do so. So if anynone has any ideas or suggestions or even better has accomplished  bringing only Shepard out alive please share them.

You can't.

Shep dies if no one else but Joker is left to pull him back to Normandy. So only after loosing EVERYONE can you also kick it permanently.

if everyone dies there is no one to pull you into the ship. Joker is a cripple.

I think you can save a lot of people. But, if your two squad mates at the end are not loyal, they die in the resulting cut scene, so no one is in the door to save you.

I don't think any of the other squad mates or crew is around to help you. I don't know for sure, though, but my impression is that for you to survive, one of your final squad mates must survive.

Joker also gets SHOT as he's trying to pull you in because he has to stop shooting them to pull you in, the reason your teammates are able to pull you in is because Joker is providing supressing fire.

Not enough, as any surviving Hold The Line crew member will also help Shepard to the ship. Someone lost both squadmates with reaper, only to have Zaeed help him up.

All have to be dead and gone for you to die.

Ok.

That was actually disappointing, to be honest.  My original impression from the marketing was that in cases when Shepard died, he had to sacrifice himself for the mission.

That didn't happen here.  He simply dies because he's a lousy commander.

I was expecting an epic cut scene where he charges in and saves someone or blows up something, or SOMETHING.

Thanks for the replies save me the time to try to accoplish the impossible as it seems, its pretty sad though an ending where only Sheprad lives would be the ultimate rengade option for me, oh one more thing so you can finish with only one squad mate (like PingoBlack wrote with Zaeed)?

Yep.. apparently as long as one person survives to pull you in the ship.

I heard it's possible, didn't try it myself ... I'm such a sucker I feel responsible to bring all of my crew back alive or I feel like I failed. :)

It would be hard, but possible, you need one good loyal defender to hold the line and 2 not loyal in your squad, you should end up with only you, the defender and Joker alive.

So be a lousy a commander and the problem solves itself.

Hehe exactly. =]

BioWare made sure that Shepard dying is not heroic, it feels like a bad failiure ... so you go back, get your ship and crew straight and the kick some Reaper scum in the daddy bags.

Instead of being kicked that is.

Huh?  The problem is that I expected Shepard to die in a blaze of glory under the right circumstance.  I don't WANT to kill him off.  It was just impression from Marketing materials is that what would happen.

I saved everyone, so I'm good.

I really expected, first going in, that ultimately you'd have a choice in the endgame of sacrificing yourself, or the lives of all your squadmates to win. So in ME3 the problem of the current team mates wouldn't matter. They'd either all be dead or you'd be a new hero and they wouldn't follow you.

But really I'm glad they went the way they did. Dying for poor leadership skills is a very fitting way to go. It's such a subtle reason to die (Joker not strong enough) that I loved it.

The death is not a complete waste, as the reason Shep dies is to save Joker's life.
But yeah, you only get to save him by dieing, one person. And after that TIM takes his ship away from him ... major suck if you ask me.

Yeah, you need at least one loyal squadmate in the final battle so he/she (or it in legion's case) can pull you up while Joker does suppressing fire.

Do you have video of this?  I've played around with it a little bit, and I've never seen Shep survive if the two final boss teammates die...not calling shenanigans or anything I am just curious about all the endgame mechanics.

A simple check, also, would be to find out if there is a cut scene with Joker (after Shepard dies) that shows a surviving squad mate.

No sadly.

I didn't do it myself, someone on these forums posted about it a while back.
