To me he should be listed as 'The Merc'
I know it's a small detail because it's only on the game's missions and the acheivements but it just kind of bugs the hell out of me. To me a 'Veteran' would be someone from the Alliance or one of the Other Race's Military.
A Veteran usually 'stands for something' where as a Merc is just a guy who does what he's paid to do and that's all Zaeed is. Def my Least Favourite Character along with that silly Jacob!
Why is Zaeed The 'Veteran'?

I don't think you know what "veteran" means. Sure it is very often (I hesitate to say usually) used to describe those who have served in the military, but the strict definition of veteran is someone who has longstanding/ significant experience in a given area (i.e. you can have a 'veteran' video game player.)
From dictionary.com: veteran

I see a lot of hate or rather lack of love for my man Zaeed. So what if he lacks a convo wheel? He still has just as much if not more dialog than any other crewmember.
He's called the Verteran because he is ex-Alliance military with decades of bounty hunting and merc campaign leadership experience. From the look of him he is somewhere in his 50's, but ME humans live to be around 150 so he may be older.

He's actually younger than he looks, that whole "shot in the face" thing can make someone look pretty darn grizzled.
