Instead of spending hours punching in numbers into SPSS, we will have a revised version of the character survey which I started a few days ago. This time, you will take a survey on Google Docs, which will ask several questions and ask you to rate each character on a scale of 1-10, just as before.

Why am I doing this? This way, we can decrease the amount of work necessary in preparing the results, and we can also call on a much larger sample size. And also, asking people about how their romances went in ME1 and ME2 may shed light on how people rate certain characters over others.

You may find the survey here.

If there are any problems, let me now. And please, do not submit more than once! If you do so, this will skew the data.

Alright, I did the survey and it was well done. The only thing that may be interesting to know/ask for (if the survey can be modified after creation) is under the LI topic, you do not prompt for multiple LI's. I notice it says primary, so primary could be a personal choice as to who was last or who was most important. But you can "go all the way" with each possible LI in endgame I believe. However, if you break up with an LI in endgame, you cant go back to them. And the savegame does record which/how many LIs you have had.

Interesting point, but I was just trying to keep as simple as possible. We can not model everything.

There might be an even improved version of this survey once I can figure more significant questions to ask people. This is just a pilot (and Google Docs is awesome!)

I took the survey, but I found a small flaw with it. I killed wrex on some playthroughs, and not on others. :s



So I had to pick just one playthrough to answer those questions from, although I have 8 completed ME1 games that I'm almost done taking through ME2.

Yeah, the point of the survey, I believe (although I dont mean to step on toes or put words in mouths), is to ask what you believe or what your favorite is. Playing through the possibilities just to see what happens is different.

Basically, the point of a survey is to ask about what you think in an ideal setting.

If you are looking for other questions, in ME2 there is a major plot choice for each and every character that may weigh in heavily and may not depending on the characters weight and what the devs decide to do.

For example: Did you reveal Tali's father's secret? Did Tali get ostracized? Who did you get loyalty for? and there are many other decisions/choices where the end result can cause many different possibilities. I can shoot you some more if you are interested.

Filled it out! Went with my first playthrough of ME2 in regards to the romance (went with Garrus. Second playthrough stayed true to Kaidan)

Thanks for this, it's better than filling out the one in my thread. Glad you decided to make it in the google docs. Also as I have asked in the other thread I created, is there a way to share the data with me? as I have a google account.

Yeah that could help, but it cannot be changed at the moment. There will probably be a 3.0 survey in the future, but this one will allow more results to be entered and we can get a really wide idea of who everyone likes the most.

Might I suggest a slight modification to the survey? In regards to Mass Effect 1 characters that appear in 2, you might want to rate how a player's opinion of them changed from ME1 to ME2. For a lot of people, the behavior changes from ME1 to ME2 for a good deal of characters strongly influenced their opinion of them (e.g. Liara and Ashley).
