This is fun stuff. I am designing version 3.0 of the survey right now, and it will ask more questions than this one. What should we ask, guys? So far, I have questions like:

1. What is your assessment of Wrex in Mass Effect 2? (Answers: Postive/Negative/No opinion)

I need some more, any suggestions? Anything that may tell us how certain character interactions lead to certain scores and such? This is my primary weakness in designing good surveys.

you could ask whether or not the horizon interaction positively or negatively affected players impression of Ashley/kaiden.

Already have such a question on the books. It's similar to the Wrex one you just quoted from me.

This will be good too, maybe it will cut down on duplicate entries. Did you figure out a way to limit input to 1 per user?

Also find out who dropped Liara due to her dialog on Illuim. I think that will help shed light on a few things for me. It for one will separate which simply didn;t like her compared to those who she turned off with her SB business.

Hmm, try to get opinions of the characters from before they were seen in ME2. Is it possible to try and account for the "cameo effect"?

I know I personally despised Liara from nearly the moment I met her, and her appearance in ME2 didn't influence that opinion at all.

Yeah. We should test the cameo effect.

Though I think we all know how that'll end up :P

Eh, my scores didn't change for the first three LIs just because of what happened in ME2. Still don't like Kaidan, still apathetic about Liara, still like Ashley (my FemShep's galpal). It's kind of like the Alistair thing, I thought he was acting majorly stupid at the Landsmeet, but that doesn't change my overall opinion of him.

You mean the one on the second page? Is there a more recent one (since that one hasn't been updated in hours)?

Excellent suggestion. Doing that now.

Also, see if there's a way to have people only be able to submit one survey. I won't be able to count the results as valid as the last survey, especially if the new one is anonymous and can be submitted multiple times.

Funny thing is that the ME1 Lis arent doing bad at all. It's just a bunch of people fudging results and it's clear who is doing it. I have a calculating way to eliminate those who put 10's and 1's on specific people to boost and lower certain people based on past LI wars on these boards. Goog thing being good at math and analytics helps with eliminating those skewed votes.
The interesting thing is that I didn't do that with the last results and th ME LIs still did very well in the polls. I will do that in the next though. So for all those that will look at my results, you will see slightly different numbers based on different algorithms used in the calculations. This will illiminate fanboy/girlish votes. The funny thing is if you look at the votes closely you can spot these a mile away.

I suspect it will have noticeable effect, perhaps in conjunction with the fact that ME2 = new and shiny, ME1 = old hat.

But I'm curious to see how much influence it has regardless.

I would love to force people to login into their Google accounts before voting, but Google Docs unfortunately doesn't seem to grant such an option...

So you're fudging your own results?

To be honest, I am not sure how you can claim to possess adequate insight and impartiality needed to 'filter' the results as you deem appropriate.

Not trying to start a fight, but really.

Hm. There must be another site that could be used...

Honestly, though doing the information manually was time-consuming, it is truly the most reliable method to an accurate result.

I'm confused. How does ones personal bias have any factors in a poll based on personal bias? Most of us are fanboys and fangirls for one character or another.

I have a question though; does this survey allow for multiple input by the same user? If so, I wouldn't necessarily call this a reliable method.

How is that fair though? One could call me a "fangirl" of Garrus but I gave Kaiden a 2 because I honestly think he is a 2.  I thought it in ME1.  So what if that's because he pales in comparison to someone else?  That fact is revealing in itself of a character's strenght or weakness.

Yes, it does, unfortunately. This method is the easiest compared to the old way of inputting dozens of values into SPSS, but allowing any user to take the survey as many times as they want really skews the results to a degree. That's probably why the standard deviations are so much higher this time around.

lul what?

where did that come from?

I said that I will take out fudged votes, It is easy to spot those and there are algorithms designed to eliminate those if you really want to get technical. More down to earth language would say there are techniques one can use to iliminate such entries. Calm down dude, you seem a little "defensive".

there is an I'm working on it now. That's why I said there are techniques that can be used to eliminate fanboysih results. I'm trying to make it as accurate as possible.
