And you said that people found you boring!
That said.
On Mr. Gaider.
There was a time when the DAO boards were more active with developer comments. Other writers posted, other developers posted. I think much of it was because even if you disagreed with what he said, or they said, the differences were not expressed in heated, condescending or unprofessional terms. If we didn't like his romance idea- we'd say "It is not our style, we prefer 2#$%" instead of "yo gaider you suxxors and don't know how to write."
If we felt Sheryl said something inexplicable, we'd ask her why. We didn't brand her sexist by default.
That kind of thing that is basically indicative of treating writers and developers as professionals and human beings worthy of courtesy, and not as our personal wish fulfilment machines that we can speak to abusively.
We benefited a LOT from these interactions because for one, we got insights into the motivations of these characters, the setting they created, little nuggets about the world that made it much richer when we actually played it because we could understand what the writers were thinking when they wrote it.
Today, it seems like Mr. Gaider is one of the very few who still ventures out here to communicate. Despite the horrible way some people have chosen to express your disappointment or disillusionment instead of doing so maturely. He knows more about the game and the characters than most people here, so I'd say what he has a lot of value to add especially to those of us who are open minded and curious about lore, setting and characters.
The thought that someone could dub him as "annoying" is just incomprehensible to me.
How dare you speak in such reasonable, comprehensible, and comprehensive terms!? You just completely ruined everyones perceptions of life, the universe and everything.

I find I prefer that time. I love playing the game, sure, but discussing game development more abstractly leads to some excellent insights.

When I was playing WoW, one of the developers spoke on their forums. And everytime he did, usually to post some harmless change or suggestion, people went crazy at him. He generated a lot of emotions just for posting in his own time and trying to add a depth to the forum and community.
Eventually he made a post to say it seemed he was doing more harm than good. And everyone who was complaining about him just 5 minutes before were "omg, like who's going to do your job now? noone? but wait... don't go..."
Was just funny. These guys are game developers, they are real people and they post here to benefit us. As long as they don't say anything that can get them fired, its surely better to have them than not, even if you don't always like/agree with what they have to say?

Quite frankly I wish the dev's posted more in the ME2 forums to deal with the nonstop "Bioware lame, they won't let me take off my Terminus Armor helmet that I got for free" threads.

I'm trying to picture you roaming aimlessly about on a field of whipped meringue and chocolate cookie trees.
If I were walking in a field of chocolate cookie trees, I would not be aimless, would I?

I would settle for just one being granted. And every Bioware writer knows what it is because I have whined about it ad infinitum.

Anyway, I love David Gaider's posts. Heck, I even enjoyed the times I've been on the firing end of his verbal shotgun. I particularly like that he posts like an actual person instead of as a PR spigot. Honestly, the forums would be much less interesting without the devs posting here, and I sincerely doubt that I'd have spent as much time on the DA forums as I have without them being around.

Also David is fine. I remember some mods on the WoW forums that just were flat out mean. The mod I'm thinking of started nice, but as time progressed, I guess his patience died out b/c he was bitterly sarcastic toward just about anything.

That's the thing. Often David's feedback isn't "official BioWare feedback". It's just David speaking his mind while he waits for a build to compile.

When Mr. Gaider speaks, it is Mr Gaider speaking- the writer, the gamer, the character creator, the chocolate eater, the cat owner, the romantic, the inner hawtness or whatever part of him he is channeling at that point.
It is not like he thumbs his nose at "official" policy, but he is certainly not speaking for the company.
Also, this.

I've had my out with Gaid as I think he is a little harsh, and his customer relations needs work, I do however respect him, and the work he does, and the fact that he does come here on his "free time" as he so often reminds us of lol.
Hey now, don't be suggesting people shouldn't troll forums during work hours. It's one of the reason I can muster the motivation to get up and brave the cold at 5 am.

I always look forward to David's, Cheryl's, and Mary's posts, because they always offer insight into the game, and sometimes give you a hint at looking at something differently ingame. They are the Lore-makers.
Mr. Gaider, I salute you for your contributions here, and I look forward to reading many more. Spanking or otherwise informative posts.
