I'm sure this has been posted before, but I'm going to go ahead and make another post. Considering the vast amount of possibilities surrounding Allistar (King,Exile, or Death), does it not make one wonder as to his role in Awakening? As we all now speculate, Oghren is the one returning character from Origins to Awakening. But Allistar is also in the trailers along with Oghren. Additionally for those who did not chose his regal route: he temporarily set aside the crown to continue the battle with the blight. So hypothetically he could do the same for awakening. That being said, Is it not safe to assume that Allistar will make some return in Awakening? Even if you chose his demise, Awakening seems to assume that you would not and places him in anyways. Your thoughts?

He's just having a conversation in that trailer. He'll be a non-recruitable NPC at best, a penniless drunk or a corpse at worst (obviously, his lines would then be replaced by Anora).

Theres always the possiblity that Alistair may be the companion and that the dwarf is just VERY similar to Oghren. He is named....err....0ghren.

My money is him being a temporary companion of the Gorim/Leske/Ser Jory/Jowan/etc vein like in Origins, and then he leaves you do recruit other companions and save the world. Or something. Obviously Anora would be doing this in your playthough if he's dead, Jim.

For us fangirls who stole him off the throne and absconded to Grey Warden paradise in Amaranthine, I'm guessing he stays there ajnd keeps your bed warm while you go slay more darkspawn, or something.

What if Alistair isn't King but still a Grey Warden?

Or, he could be building Duncan's memorial while we deal with Amaranthine.  It does say in the epilouge where you are both grey wardens and he's you one true love that this is the only time we are seperated . :)

PS: It's much more fun saving the universe whe you have a cuddle partner!

I hope we get to see a few of our old friends to see how they're doing. ^^

They can only show the results of one possible ending in the trailer. It makes sense that they would show one with Alistair as king since the majority of endings make him so (Alistair and Anora as co-rulers, Alistair ruling alone and the PC gone in some manner, Alistair as king and the PC chancellor, Alistair and the PC married), and the least used choices result in Alistair being gone (Alistair left at the gate, dead, or exiled). I don't think it means much apart from that.

But that makes NO SENSE... Unless it's written in a "I'll meet you there, I'll do this ...thing" and Bioware pull a Fergus Cousland and make him reapear at the end.

ORRR he gets held up somewhere due fighting darkspawn offscreen in a Conivenient Plot Device while you're squishing creepy bugs and recruiting persnickity Dalish mages. I don't know, but I do think he's not going to be there start to finish like last time, though. Sadly.

Ooh, the possibilites... And woo cuddle! If my dwarven princess is not allowed to marry her human prince, I'm totally stealing him from the throne JUST BECAUSE.

I find it odd that they would add Oghren of all the possible characters they could bring back. I mean, does anyone even like or use Oghren? Aside from the one time I was forced to use him, I never used him.

Lots of people like Oghren and find him amusing. The main reasons for his choice lie elsewhere, though. He wasn't romanceable, which means that you aren't dividing players by bringing back one person's romance to the party, but not another's. He's not dead in any of the endings. He's a neutral aligned character, so the alignment balance of the party lies with new companion choices, and the approval/disapproval of characters that you don't already know how to influence.

I believe that each of the endings where Alistair is alive and still around give a reason for his absence. I'm not sure they'll be taking advantage of that here, though. It's only months since the end of the blight, so there are lots of conceivable reasons why the king couldn't leave Denerim, or for both wardens to be needed in different places.

Oops, two posts in a row! Sorry about that! ;)

We'll just have to wait and see.

Maybe Alistair joins the "whole darkspawn killing" after all, but instead of following you, he decides that forming two teams and splitting up would be best. You end up going separate ways with the same goals, and somehow you meet him again in the end.

It's the only scenario that makes sense to me. One that will also work with Loghain.

Even Oghren is seen in quite a lot of the current trailers, I disagree that he'll be the "one returning" character from Origins. I don't think there's enough proof to make it fact.

I like this kind of scenario. And it would make very much sense, that's true. And then of course you would get him as a joinable NPC for the final moments of the game.... Whatever the final moments will be...

They did say that the Origins characters would have cameo roles in Awakenings. So until they announce or it's March 16th it could be anyone returning.

Errrm.. Actually Oghren can die.... i killed him in all of my playthroughs. Thats why i think its Morrigan as the reurning party member, She was a main part in Origins and she couldnt be kicked out (well she could but she kept returning.) or killed through out the entire game. I always kill Oghren. I have no time for useless drunks! Besides hes annoyingggg!Image IPB

Eh, just because he showed up in a screenshot everyone assumes it's him. And I'm probably missing something, but my point stands.

I made a couple of mistakes there, so to correct:

I don't think it means much apart from that.

There ya go. It still holds true.

We'll see who they end up adding back. Everyone speculates Oghren but I hope it's not. I would personally like to see Allistair back. It may possibly be that you can chose who to bring back. I think that's asking a bit much but it's a possibility.

How do you kill Oghren? I heard you have to get him to -100 but I never can he always leaves my party before I can attack him or do anything.

I believe if you side with Branka you have to fight him? I'm not totally sure; I always side with Caridin. But I do believe something goes down at the Anvil.

No I have sided with Branka and against her several times. Never had him attack me. You gain approval for siding with Branka. In one playthrough I made him hate me though. When I returned to camp he just said "well warden its been interesting hope the archdemon chokes on you."  And he left the party. I also had a character that kept telling him to leave and went back on it to try and get his approval as low as I could. After getting pretty low approval he just decided to leave the party and said the same thing "I hope the archdemon chokes on you." and left. I can't figure out how to kill him. Even wikia says he is unkillable but people on these forums say its possible so I don't know what their doing. I want to kill him once....
