I used to always use Shock Trooper on Soldiers. I always felt that the +15% power damage bonus wasn't particularly useful (since I thought that it only affceted Concussive Shot) and that gaining an extra 3/4 of a second on Adrenaline Rush was much more useful than +15% weapon damage.

However, thanks to a recent answer from the developers, we now know that the power damage bonus also affects any bonus granted by ammo powers. If using Tungsten Ammo, that means that you're getting an extra 10.5% bonus that we didn't know about before. That power bonus might also affect the damage bonus granted by Adrenaline Rush.

In light of these facts, which do you think is better, Commando or Shock Trooper? It boils down to which do you think is better, .75 extra seconds on Adrenaline Rush or 25.5% (and possibly more with Adrenaline Rush) extra weapon damage?

If using a secondary ability like reave, then there is no reason to not go shock trooper.

I went Shock Trooper because of 100% Paragon/Renegade bonus.

The difference between Shock Trooper and Command is small either way.

class skills increasing paragon/renegade points is retroactive. It changes both your current total and what you earn in the future.



I wouldn't call a potential 25%+ inrease in weapon damage small at all.

In that case, I would go Commando. You find enough quests and conversations to max you Paragon bar anyway.

like he said its retro active so you'd just lose that 30% anyways when you switch. But you can select the "retrain" prototype upgrade to go from shock trooper to commando.

The negotiation class is always about the same combat wise. It just does its stuff in a different way.
