To be honest, I really wouldn't mind if there was something like ONE mission where you go back in time, as long as it makes sense with the story and isn't just thrown in for lolz. But to base the entire game around that concept would be.... fail.

If by 'go back in time' you mean 'observe past events in a cutscene' I'm all for that.
Otherwise, for a game that tries to be based on science, introducing time travel is the ultimate jumping of the shark.  Bringing someone back from the dead is up there, too.

Just sayin'

I don't know... Apparently I don't care as much about realism as the next person, I mean it's a game... we're fighting aliens for f's sake. I'm just saying as long as it's done right, and it's fun, then I could really care less. It does however have a lot of potential to be really, really horrible and game-breaking... But I'm sure bioware has a good sense of that.

I imagine a scene where you travel back in time to a point where Garrus was a 2 year old baby.

Shepard: "Hey, baby, Garrus. You're a cute widdle baby Garrus, aren't you. Wanna come talk to your uncle Shepard?"

Baby Garrus: "Can it wait a moment? I'm in the middle of some callibrations."

Okay I could barely manage to stop laughing after reading this.

I...don't like this idea at all. Interesting thought bud, and thanks for contributing, but I, personally, can't see this fitting into this game at all.

Yeah, Nozdormu and the Bronze Dragonflight need Commander Shepard to fix assaults on the timeline from Reaper agents! Commander Shepard must make sure Kaiden dies on Virmire otherwise time unravels! YEAH

Don't forget having to go back in time and make sure Saren slaughters a bunch of innocents and goes down the darker path so time doesn't unravel.

Lol. Maybe it could be a final mission. Go back in time and decide wether or not to destroy the Reapers in their infancy.

No Shepard, you are the Reapers.
And then Shepard was Harbinger.
